Ovarian cyst size seems huge should I be alarmed?

Hi I recently got hold of a copy of my US Pelvic TA and Transvaginal Scan results for my Gynaecologist. As Im under investigation for menstrual problems, I was alarmed when I read that i had a 55x50x50cm cyst (vol 70ccs) in the left ovary and the right ovary appears small with no free fluid. As my next appointment is not till August I was wondering should I be freaking out as this could be urgent or is this appointment time frame normal? My GP has had this info from the end of January 2014 and I had to insist on seeing a gynaecologist due to pain/other symptoms but bloating is dreadful.. I read some of previous posts and some info is already reasurring, helps ease the mind a little. So thanks for the previous posts. sad

Hi Mavis, are you sure it is not 50mm? I think your gynae would have been shocked and sent you for immediate treatment if you had a cyst that large!

I just had a 22cm cyst removed and I can't tell you the discomfort I was in. It went from one hip to the other and up to under my ribs and I had over 1.5 litres of fluid drained from it when they took it out. 70cc is almost the same as 70ml I think? I was also sent for an MRI under a week after I was diagnosed due to the size and nature of the cyst.

Have you got a massively swollen belly? What has your dr said? X

Im huge bellywise I just copied what measurements where on the report for size hopefully they made a mistake. My gynea has no information yet regarding cyst as my scan was not done in a hospital. The waiting list for that scan at my local hospital is long, so I was refered to a private surgery for that scan. The results went back to my gp who did not forward them on to my gynea for my first appointment with him in April. So I knew I had a cyst but not what size so I never had much info for gynea regarding cyst. He insisted I got a copy of the scan results for next appointment which is in August. But Im back to my GP today to insist on the second scan they promised for April which I ain't had it's for comparison. I can hardly sleep but have loads of symptons but my wait gain is unbelieable its mainly tummy area. my stomach was best my best feature...

So I went to see my GP today and the measurements are right he said I've slipped through the net as I was due a second US Pelvic TA and Transvaginal Scan at the end of April for comparison so decisions could be made... He was not happy with my treatment I could tell as he was making additional notes. I watched him put the request through but all he could do was apologise. He was forwarding all cyst information to my gyneaoclogist and he said I also have endometriosis. So I will await what comes next. If I never came on this site I would not of gone back, I would of gone with the flow. My life time GP has left my practise due to his high demand he was brilliant and not all the others are as sincere and thorough as he was. Thanks again plus I will update with my journey... It's a shame this as happened I pray thats the end of mistakes.

Oh wow, that's crazy! How awful that they have let you slip through like that, I can't imagine what kind of discomfort you must be in! Any updates since your last post? X

Yes my stomach is already flatter, but my cyst poked out so far that it would've been mad if it didn't go do a lot pretty quick! I still have some swelling but mostly all gone now two weeks post op! I got out of bed without a lot of pain after perhaps a week or just over,

i am am guessing you have had your surgery now.....how are you feeling? Did everything go ok? X
