Ovarian Pain?

Needing some reassurance/guidance. I’m 43 y/o (post-partial hysterectomy 2yrs ago) and am currently  having some other wacky health issues that I believe are related to my thyroid. To make matters worse, I am still on a new job probation until September 1 so I have no insurance currently.  About three weeks ago, I started getting really bad indigestion. Granted, I do get GERD and occasionally get flare ups, but for some reason this felt different and longer lasting. It made me feel like I didn’t want to eat much and my food would just sit in my stomach for hours. That has pretty much stayed the course for the last 3 weeks, but it typically has good or bad days where I feel ok to eat. The days I don’t, I make myself eat. About a week and a half ago, I noticed some L pelvic cramping when I laid down to go to sleep. It seemed to let up when I would shift positions. I didn’t think much of it then, but a couple days later I started to get this sharp left hip pain that went from my ovary area to my back where my sciatic nerve is. That night I started getting pins and needles and slight numb feeling from my left glute to my ankle. It lasted for 30min or more. When I woke up the next morning, I woke up with my left hip, glute, thigh and leg  muscles aching like I had done a really intense workout the day before (which I hadn't at all). Coincidentally, the same thing happened to my right forearm and hand the next night...so, again...could be related to something else.  Anyway, the muscle aches went away after a day or so, but from that point, I have had the same sharp pain on my left hip over my ovary that travels slightly to my lower abdominal area and wraps around to my back. It feels like a “pinch” or a constant side ache (like the kind you get after running). The intensity comes and goes. There was one day it was barely there, but for the most part it has been constant the last 4-5 days. I can usually get relief if I lay on my right side when I sleep. It gets more intense when I walk or sit...especially when leaning to my left side. Ibuprofen helps some... takes the edge off. I don’t get pain with intercourse and I don’t feel like I have to pee all the time. Though, I am bloated off and on. I have a pelvic ultrasound scheduled for after the 1st when my insurance kicks in and I’m driving myself batty trying to wait through it. I’ve been reading about all of your experiences with cysts and was glad to see this as a possibility. My mind has entertained all kinds of terrible things. Especially since, every GYN I have had always told me the cysts I have had (in the past) have never been big enough to cause me pain...even though the pain was the very reason it took me to their office in the first place! Can someone share if these symptoms sound typical to your experience with ovarian cysts?

Hi, I’ve never had a cyst on my ovary but I did have a fat gristle ball (it was called a fibroma ) I first had some pain whilst out shopping one day, the pain was in my left groin and around my hip and going around to my Lower back (top of bottom) about 10 minuets later I got back to my car, sat down and the pain started to go. By the time I got home the pain had completely gone. Two days later , while getting in to bed I felt the pain again, it was again deep in my groin and around to my very lower back and spreading up to hip. Over the course of about an hour the pain intensified to the point that I was screaming out in pain . It was far worse that child birth pain, worse pain I had ever had in my life. My husband called a ambulance. I was in hospital for three days while they did every test going and eventually they told me I had a mass on my left ovary but they didn’t know what it was!        ..... I then went for a internal scan and they couldn’t really see what the problem was so I was sent home (the pain had subsided to minimal by then) and booked to go back for a specialised person to give me a internal scan.  At the second internal scan I was told I had a dermoid cyst and some fibroids (which was totally wrong) ...... 12 weeks later I went in to have left ovary removed and when I came around from the antithetic I was told “I had no fibroids and no cyst” I had a piece of gristle known as a fibroma attached to my ovary ( by then it was removed) But the reason why I had all the pain was because the fibroma and caused the ovary to twist which is called ‘torsion ovary ‘.    While I was having the two internal scans they had missed the important fact that my ovary had twisted around pushing on other organs in my body and had to wait 12 weeks for operation! .... I don’t know if you have anything like this but my advice is to get checked out. I am totally fine now and glad I pushed for operation to remove my ovary.

I have similar symptoms as you that are driving me crazy right now too. I’ve had the following for about 4 months because  the symptoms come and go, and I’m scared. First started with pinching pain near my right ovary that would last for a second. I have no issues with bloating, bladder, bleeding, painful intercourse. However, lately instead of a pinching in my ovary I’m feeling a shooting pain from that area that goes down my thigh(again only lasting a second). My long awaited gyn appointment is tomorrow. I’m so scared and fearing what they may find. I’m 57 years old and have not had my period for 16 months. I have not told anyone of my pain including my husband because I don’t want to worry them. I’m praying that it’s just a cyst and nothing more. I’ll check in again here to let you know.  Praying for you as well.

    So, ultrasound results showed,

“Complex cystic structure measuring 4.7 x 4cm with multiple intrinsic septations and mild echogenic nodularity along periphery. Findings may reflect prominent hemorrhagic cyst, although follow up evaluation is recommended in 4-6 weeks to ensure resolution. If not improved, evaluation with MR could be considered for better characterization. Left ovary not visualized transvaginally, but appears grossly unremarkable trans abdominally.”

Is it safe to wait 4-6 weeks? It sounds like they’re not positive it’s a hemorrhagic cyst.  🤦🏼???

Plus, it makes me nervous they didn’t get a good look at my left ovary...especially since that’s where I’m having my pain.
