Take care.
Hi Jane. Sorry about your sore throat. There's always a degree of risk with any operation due to the anaesthetic, so you need to take that into account too. I know it's a tough decision. Take care.
Hope everyone else is coping.

Jane i think they would rather go down the rai route as its cheaper to take a pill than have a major operation also, i dont think that they like to do thyroidectomy`s these days unless absolutley neccessary. I had my rai nearly a year ago & have had no adverse effects from it no matter what route is taken its a long, long road to recovery. Sorry if i sound a bit depressing dont mean to just think that docs & endos tend to say that once you have treatment everything will be ok but, thats not always the case. Anyway whatever you decide its an individual choice . Take care all. Elaine.

Bess is right, you need all the help you can get. Good luck.
We've been baby sitting this weekend too. Our little granddaughter is eighteen months, and she decided it was playtime at 4 o'clock this morning, so I feel a bit tired today. She's gone home now, and it's so quiet.
Take care everyone.

Bless you it sounds like it's your turn for that end of the stick at present! This is temporary and things will get better. I am a half full kinda girl despite GD.
I don't know much about benefits but it's my impression that many people who should get them don't because of the complicated system we have. Give it a go and see what happens, you cannot loose.
Keep on with making sure that you get your appointments, how else can you get better.
Take care
Glad everyone else is ok

Just catching up on all the new posts.
Hi Jane & Sue glad you found this site it has provided me with a lot of information that has helped me at appointments etc and just knowing that you are not the only one with all these crazy symptoms really helps!
I'm feeling a bit better this week (shouldn't have said that out loud) think the lower dose of Carb is starting to work. Although I have noticed that the right side of my neck where my thyroid is, is slightly swollen, not had this before so a bit worried.
Bess I love your saying \"it's the squeaky wheel that gets oiled\" boy is that true with me dealing with the staff at my GP's they are about as helpful as a chocolate teapot!! I seem to be constantly on the phone chasing them for
something, Sue they also said they would call back and guess what they
didn't!!
Right I'm off to try and get some sleep might be tricky have a Hubby beside me snoring his head off after too much red wine with his Sunday dinner!
Take Care and keep popping those pills,

If so any improvement?
I read this week on t'internet that there could be some evidence that people with Graves could be lacking vitamin D.
Just wondered what you all thought.

My neck is up and down sometimes swollen and sometimes not, it's always on the right side. Sometimes both sides go red and you can see the thyroid shape in the redness. I went to see my gp when it first happenned he said that it is typical graves and not to worry. I was all panicky worrying about it and he just said \"I spotted it the very first time you came that's why I thought that you might have graves\". I hadn't noticed it at that point.
I cannot believe how many times I've seen my GP in the last 5 weeks more than I've seen him in the last five years for sure.
He did fail to spot GD in 2008 when I suddenly became all pannicky with palputations and lost a load of weight. After a few weeks off work it seemed to sort it's self out, I refused medication (antidepresants) and have been ok until recently. My GP regrets not doing a blood test or taking my blood pressure then and has been very supportive this time around. Clearly the no meds thing is now long gone as I now rattle just as much as the next GD patient.
Anyway take care
Jane

How are we all doing?
I went to see Peter Kay in Newcastle on Monday, he is one funny man. Managed to walk the mile to the arena from the hotel, going so slow snails were overtaking me!! There was a steep hill at the end nearly finished me off had to stand for 5 mins to get my breath and heart back to normal. I felt 92 instead of 42!!!
Then the panicky feelings started and I thought I couldn't go in however put my head down and made it to our seats had to do some serious deep breathing but I managed to stay, sooo glad I did.
I've had confirmation this morning that I'm booked in next Monday for a cardioversion which fingers crossed will put my heart back into a normal rhythm. My heart racing and palpitations was what made me go to the Doctor last May which then lead to me being diagnosed with Graves.
I bit nervous but who wouldn't be, the whole thing takes 10 mins amazing
My eyes have been quite bad this week a bit sore and blurry, just Graves/thyroid I think or too much time on the computer googling Graves!!!
Anyway enough of my ramblings,
Have the best weekend you can.

You're bound to be nervous, it's only natural, but I bet when it's over you'll wonder what you've been worrying about.
My eyes get sore and blurry too. I don't think the computer helps. I forget to blink.
We had a cover of snow when we got up this morning, and it's snowed on and off all day. It's turned to rain now. Nevermind Spring will soon be here.
Take care,
Marigold.
Hi Barry,
I'm pleased you're feeling better, and managed to get back to the gym. It makes you feel that you're getting better when you do things that you used to do before.
Take care.
Hope everyone else is ok.
