Over the counter lidocaine?

Posted , 3 users are following.

File size is too bigSo i'm currently having my first outbreak. And my doctor prescribed me a little thing of lidocaine. I'm 2 days in and I'm almost out. Ice is only short term. Is there anything I can do? This is the worst pain I've ever experienced. Ibuprofen barely works.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I was in excruciating pain when I had my first outbreak so I know how bad it is and feel for you 😦 I used a drugstore emergency lidocaine cream that is used to soothe burns and it helped temporarily when I was in alot of pain. I'd recommend you leave the area as dry as possible which is why most doctors dont recommend creams unless youre in unbearable pain (which I'm sure you are). The best options are to take warm sitz baths with epsom salt and submerge yourself in it. Make sure not to get urine on the lesions as it causes tons of pain and irritation, the best way I found was to pee in the bathtub in a squatting position. What i also found soothing was to use the hair dryer on cool setting after I took a shower/bath. I hope this information is helpful, I know it feels like the end of the world right now but you will be better soon I promise 😃

salt baths really help me i sit in there for an hour! i stop wearing underwear and in the house i wear flowing skirts to allow the area to dry out. have you got antivirals to stop it from getting worse?
