overactive bladder and coping with travel

After suffering with OAB and painful bladder syndrome for 2 years I have not travelled out of my comfort zone. But ive decided to take the plunge and travel by plane. The only thing that worries me is the time I cannot leave my seat as the urge to go can come sudden and be rather uncomfotable to hold. After feeling alone with this problem as I dont know anyone else like me, im looking for someone whos managed to travel with the same problem to give me confidence and reduce my worry anxieties, aswell as any tips you may have to help it go smoothly!

I usually refrain from drinking anything for at least three hours before the flight and visit the loos frequently when waiting in the departure lounge. In most airports there are loos near the departure gates so once called to the gate, I can usually visit the loo one last time before boarding. During the flight, I try not to worry about the prospect of feeling an urge to urinate when the seat belt signs are on and concentrate on reading or crossword puzzles to keep my mind occupied. I normally risk a drink with an in flight meal and visit the loo on the plane after a couple of hours even if I don't really want to.
our flights are usually four to five hours so I cannot comment on longer flights but worrying about it is worse than the actuality and I have not experienced any real problems-touch wood.
good luck, there's always Tena pants!!
