Overactive thyroid and pregnancy

Hi,
I am so happy i came across this website. I am currently 4 weeks pregnant and has been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid before the pregnancy. I am currently taking Carbimazole... can anyoune pls tell me if i should stop taking this. I want a healthy baby and would not want to endanger my baby in any way. What do i do?

Yes, PTU is better if you are pregnant. I got diagnosed with very active thyroid the same day I discovered I was pregnant. That was 13 years ago and I have a lovely 12 year old boy. The pregnancy was controlled with PTU, I had frequent blood tests during the pregnancy (every 4 weeks) to ensure dosage is right. I felt fine and there was no problems in pregnancy. Good luck!

Two years later i was off meds, with a beautiful two year old girl.
Five years on i've just today been diagnosed again. I'm not happy about it but started Cabimazole and Propranalol today and have appt with Endo in two weeks. Praying it wont be as bad this time...
