Overcoming Panic Attacks

Hello,

First, I'm sorry for my English.

I'm 42y old man, and 2-3 months ago I had nose bleeding and high blood pressure 180/110, ended in ER and they stabilized with injections, but suggested that I must see Cardiologist. Next day I urgently scheduled appointment and went to Cardiologist. He made all tests, Stress Test, I also ware 24h blood pressure and Heart monitor, also they've done many blood test and everything comes normal, except that I have elevated blood pressure in the morning. So he decided to prescribe antihypertensive medication in the morning.

BUT now whenever I get up in the morning, I'm getting up with that in mind, that my blood pressure will be again high, and questions start racing in my head like, what I will do if my blood pressure is high again, then i will remember what i was reading on google about consequences that high blood pressure can make, my heart starts pounding, even i have palpitations, i feel dizzy and feel weakness in my legs and arms etc.

Then I try very hard to sit calm for a several minutes, and measure my blood pressure. And here the magic happens, If I read the numbers in range not exceeding let say 150-160, I'm at once more calm, took second measure and the blood pressure is more normal, then third measure is in normal range. When I see that blood pressure is normal, ALL THE SYMPTOMS described above magically dissappers.

Can someone please help me, guide me how to overcome this wake up panic attacks that I think are induced by thinking that blood pressure will be high, but when I see that is normal all panicking stops almost immediately.

The most frightening thing here is that every night when I go to bad I think of the morning and expecting new panic attack with frightening symptoms.

Thank You

I am so sorry that you are going through the worry and fear about your blood pressure. First of all, remember that you are taking medication for your blood pressure. Those medications work very well to keep the blood pressure down.

The mind is a very powerful thing! That’s why it’s very important to change from negative to positive thinking.

    1. keep telling yourself that your medication is working and that your blood pressure is being controlled. That is positive thinking! when you wake up in the morning do something positive right away.! For example, smile and tell yourself you are grateful for having your blood pressure in the normal range. take several long slow deep breaths.
    2. Please stop googling about blood pressure because it will scare you for no reason and it will affect your blood pressure and panic. those things on Google have nothing to do with your situation.
    3. stop the "what if" thinking! It is a miserable way to live. Remember to have an attitude of gratitude!
    4. The very second you have a negative thought, stop it right away and think of something positive! If you go on YouTube you can find lots of positive self talk or self affirmations! They are very helpful. There are also many meditations for anxiety, fear, and positive mindset! I listen to these every day and every night when I lay down to sleep. they really help! Check them out!
    5. just the fact that you felt 100% better when you saw the normal blood pressure tells you how powerful your mind is! Remember that whatever we put into our mind, it will grow larger whether it’s positive or negative. So stick to the positive!
    6. you can do this! every night when you go to bed, don’t expect bad things in the morning! Expect that your blood pressure is going to be normal! Also when you go to bed, turn on a soothing meditation from YouTube, find something that you like and that will keep you positive! I hope this helps a little bit. Message me anytime! Take care ❤
