Overthinking/ depersonalisation

Hi guys.
Not sure if I am or not but, I feel like I'm suffering from depersonalisation.
Has anyone had this and can describe the symptoms to me?
Also had anyone suffered from this whilst taking an antidepressant? (Citalopram) and does anyone have any tips or coping strategies for this?

The symptoms one gets with depersonalization can vary from your own view but here’s a few that should help you understand how one feels to have depersonalization.
-Feeling like your watching yourself through a screen
-Feeling like your not in control of your actions or like a robot
-Numbness in sense of the body, physically and/or emotionally
Now there’s another disorder called derealization that has symptoms similar to these but even then these two are not comfortable to have. Mostly these are caused by anxiety and can get rid easily if you know how to manage your stress, actions, and thoughts.
When I experienced this I would have a bad habit of overthinking the negative and would bring upon panic attacks to myself.
A specific anxiety called existential anxiety had part in this too. But everyone has a specific anxiety they deal with and whether you do or don’t deal with severe anxiety should determine if you really do have this or not

I think I'm suffering from derealisation.
How did you learn to cope with it?

I coped with it by riding through it when I felt it happening. At times negative thoughts would also pop up in my mind and I did whatever to dish them out. Talking to a loved one, listening to music whether it’d be in a car or at home. And if nothing was available I would doubt the thoughts using mindfulness and listening to my surroundings. It went away in less than a month. It is because it is such a new feeling that’s has your brain fooling your senses. One is not used to this type of tampering and at times one questions if he really does have this or if he’s going crazy. Don’t think that, if you’ve felt it once already then you know already what it is to feel like this
You can only cope with it the times you feel it happening. Once you do that (learn to ride through it) it’s like your naturally fighting it off and it goes away on its own. It’s like a wave of fear or worry caused by anxiety. All you do is learn to ride it and let it drop you off

Hi Rox I've had it 24/7 for 12 years, I've kept it to myself until recently and I'm finally seeing a psychiatrist for it. My symptoms are constantly feel like you are in a dream also I don't feel like im in my body is also have existanal thoughts but this has only happen recently due to medication problem. I hate it it has ruined my life! I have tried everything! My cause is my anxiety, I've just started sertraline so I am hoping it will sort out my anxiety and my depersonalisation. People say just ignore it but how can you when you feel like you are in a scary dream? Hope it goes soon and take care x

Hi I've had it before, it felt as if i wasn't myself, would touch my body and it didn't felt right, iI felt as if i was looking me from another dimension, like everything was slow motion.. It was scary as hell
with was saying multiple times" this is all in your head " I'd even sing thing phrase using the tunes of my favorite songs, I'd dance along , or move my feet if I was sitting. Eventually it stopped. I think my brain just understood that these sensations weren't real after saying the same thing hundreds of times

Feelings that you're an outside observer of your thoughts, feelings, your body or parts of your body — for example, as if you were floating in air above yourself. Feeling like a robot or that you're not in control of your speech or movements.
