Avoids: Brown Bread, Lentils, Mushrooms, Peas, Corn, Coconut

There are many DD diet books out there or try the Keto Diet that seems to align with a decent diet and weight loss

You can ask for a referral to a dietician that will help- i would not use the weight watchers until you have the DD in control

A food diary is excellent this will help identify what foods to avoid

    good luck

    Hi Gloria

Like you I have battled DD and a weight issue. I need a hip operation so am in much the same position as you. I was a member of Slimming World but am now with WeightWatchers, as it suits my pre-diabetes better. I still have 5 stone to go, but my DD is now under control. That took me almost a year.

As Kevin says, the best way to identify your trigger foods is to keep a food diary, as everyone is different. My particular triggers are gluten and full fat, but for others it can be some or all of pips, nuts, seeds, corn, skins, dairy, uncooked veggies, red meat etc etc etc. Sensible eating is the best way forward with soluble fibre rather than insoluble. So have the baked potato but leave the skin, eat bran flakes rather than AllBran, make lots of SYN free soups and blend them (not SW advised, but better for DD). Any diet plan will encourage you to follow a healthy diet and you just have to tinker with it to eliminate your trigger foods. Good luck.

Hi Gloria, try not to get stressed or tense as this can cause pain. I am reluctant to call it a flare up because I do not think it is an infection and does not need antibiotics. I have found this to be one of the main reasons I get pain. Having said that I avoid foods with skins and pips like tomatoes and berries. I peel apples and pears. I am very cautious around seeded bread and don't eat sweet corn.

IIf you are having pain try to avoid foods which are hard to digest like red meat, and cook everything well.

    Hi

Different foods seem to affect people in different ways. To be honest I havent found any foods specifically that causes a flare up but I know a lot of people avoid certain foods. I have only had 3 flare ups in the past 5 yrs eating more or less whatever I want. I saw a specialist privately who specialises in DD and he said just to have a normal diet as its now dispelled that foods get caught in the pockets. He did advise eating enough fibre ( (unless you are having a flare up) and not to get constipated. I also try and drink 2 litres of water a day but dont always manage it!

My daughter in law has just lost 3 stone with SW and looks great. The recipes look very healthy too. GOOD LUCK.
