Ovestin Cream - cleaning applicator

Posted , 2 users are following.

Have just been prescribed Ovestin cream. The instruction leaflet says to separate the plunger from the barrel to clean the applicator, but I can't see any way you can possibly do this unless I'm being particularly stupid. There is a stop on the plunger at the red line so you can't overfill it, and the button you press at the top to release the cream obviously prevents the plunger being withdrawn that way. I find it impossible to thoroughly clean the applicator and am concerned at how hygienic this is.

    Hi

if you pull the top of the applicator firmly the long bit will come out. Clean the clear tube with soapy water I use a clean cotton bud to clean the inside where the cream has been. Then clean the long white stem with soapy water.

Thank you so much. I was afraid of forcing it & breaking something, but I felt more confident pulling hard on it with your advice and it worked! I feel much happier using it now I know I can clean it properly. I wish they'd put that in the leaflet that comes with it! Once again, many thanks.
