Ovestin v Vagifem

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have been taking Vagifem for about a year which has made improvements internally but not much to the outside vaginal folds. I've been advised to switch me to Ovestin so I can apply the cream externally.

I wondered if anyone has had any success or improvement using Ovestin n this way?

hi Tracy, Heres a tip I hope you try! I had the most awful   attacks of V A and tried oveston cream. Internally it seemed to work for a brief period, but topically I had a BAD reaction, which took me two weeks to get over (DONT TRY IT TOPICALLY). Now for the good news. purely by chance I discovered Fenugreek. Its a herb/seeds/powder used mostly in Indian cooking. I tried the powder first with not much success, but I soaked a large tbs of seeds in ipnt of boiling water overnight and had half in the morning and half at bedtime. IT WORKS!!! A few hours after I drank the first glass I noticed the improvement and have been doing the same thing for 3 months. Back to normal except for the occasional slight irritation which I bathe in the same solution or apply sudocrem at night and its usually back to normal in morning. look it up and diccover the healing properties of fenugreek. Its very inexpensive and can be bought in Indian shops or online, Try the seeds first as it DEFINATELY works for me. Good Luck and merry xmas. P.s pleas let me know how you find it as I would like to share this MIRACLE with all you women suffering unnecessarily.

Hi thanks for that I will definitely look into it, it sounds promising. On the Ovestin front it really has made a difference and I'm feeling much better I haven't had any problems topically but it varies from women to women. Glad you've found a solution :-)

im happy you have found something to alleviate your symptoms. As I said i was looking for a natural treatment for my VA which I have found in Fenugreek. I didn't want the worry of breast cancer through taking HRT in any form. I see you are slightly concerned too! .I forgot to mention that Fenugreek is the best natural HRT substitute, for VA and lots of other womens problems. It has a natural progesterone derivitive (lab tested) and also mimics eostrogen. Im sure you wiil get all the info you need if you google (fenugreek as HRT.).Good Luck.

I have had a little look it doesn't specify it's particularly aides VA? Although it's useful for many other ailments. It certainly sounds pleasing being a maple flavour. I might look into the tea :-)

Sorry didn't see this post. Do you have a specific link to the research?

yes i had to look at about 10 different websites, gleaning as much info as poss. I will have a look again and see if I can find the most apprpriate one regarding HRT and post it to you later on. Although VA is not specified it covers an array of womens problems and just stands to reason one would would assume VA could be  included. it did not take much convincing on my part to try it because I was desperate for something natural to help with my symptoms, but I was not expecting to be cured (providing I take my daily pint of seed water). I was almost suicidal with the soreness, itching and dryness until my sister recommended I try it. It is a food and therefore harmless as the Indian (and many other races use it daily in there food). The flavour is quite bitter and if you find it unpleasant to drink you can use some honey. I take a glass first thing in morning on an empty stomach and leave a few minutes before my coffee/tea etc; Im surprised there is not a lot more info about this wonder food for women like us.All I know is it works for me and will probably work for many others. I wanted to pass on my good luck in discovering it.

For every study that claims that oestrogen causes breast cancer, there is one that disproves it.  So tired of the fear mongering - media just promotes the drama of it, not all the details, like the lifestyle of the women that participated in the study.  I do not yet know of a woman who used oestrogen who got breast cancer.  There are many woman who are very young who get breast cancer.  If you know of a woman who got breast cancer while taking oestrogen, was it proven to be caused by using oestrogen?

Yes, there are those who are oestrogen sensitive, and feral oestrogen from parabens in our shampoos, cosmetics, plastics, soy, natural alternatives, animal fed hormones, etc. contribute to that.  There are those with the BRACS(?) gene who are going to get it regardless, too.

Progesterone is the most problematic hormone.  How can we disagree with drs who specialise in menopause, who have done years of study, then years of experience treating women, who read all the official medical research who have come to the conclusion that some oestrogen hrt (oestradiol - bio identical, pellets and patches, vagifem and oestriol cream) are safe, and pointedly report that others are not.  Read The Wisdom of Menopause for one.

I have happily been using them for going on 26 years, despite that my maternal aunt had breast cancer (and she never use hrt).  I don't intend to  stop using them.  You are meant to start using them to prevent getting VA and all the other numerous health problems one gets pre and post menopause.

As others have pointed out, not all natural alternatives, herbs, etc are safe either.  There is a lot of promotion for anti hrt in order to convince women to buy their products.

People who have taken fenugreek (for other purposes) report of having bad body odour as toxins exude from their skin.  Which could be proof that it works for that purpose.

I really wish women would not give themselves (and their families) a hard life and health issues because of uneducated fear.  And, unfortunately, there are many gps who also perpetuate the myths.  It keeps you coming back to them for your continuing health issues.

Yes, I have found something that works very well for me, and so would many other women, if they had not been made so fearful.

Hi,my doctor shows no fear in prescibeing localised hrt.I am thinking of taking it if my symptoms require it.Most of the fear comes from the label that needs updateing. They put the same warning on the localised hrt as they do on the pill etc. There is an article i believe dated nov 25 of this year.its on the net.

I am glad you found this but if anyone had estrogen sensitive breast cancer do not use this or any other supplement without checking it out to see if it mimics estrogen! These are not for you.

Thanks I agree in that case oestrogen isn't for you and these alternatives are helpful irrespective. I have regular mammograms as part of my monitoring whilst on Hrt.
