Can you take a friend or relative to PIP assessment with ou?
I'm sure you will be allowed to do this.
How far do you have to travel?
Explain to them about your short term memory and ask if you can have all information sent to you in writing.
I am going to do this as I have heasring problems.
Take care and let me know how you get on.

Are you sure it is ATOS doing the assessment, it could be Capita in which case you would have a completely different atmosphere thorought. ATOS are more known as (hate-us) because the pass rate is very low.
I would suggest you record the assessment if you can, and take someone with you as a guide. It was suggested by Capita that the claimant should be allowed to record the assessment, so there was no discrepancies between the assessment and the actual outcome. However, the DWP refused to state people could do this, but people do now because of the high denial rate, and the discrepancies being totally different, some not even anything to do with what actually went on in the assessment. It has been used against ATOS to overturn decisions and the DWP.
If I get a face-to-face for PIP from DLA, I'm making sure everything is covered. I have never had a face-to-face yet not even for ESA, but PIP is a totally different allowance. I know many peope that have gone from DLA HR to PIP HR with no problems, the only difference being is I have never found anyone that had the allowance for "indefinite" period. It's either 3 to 10 years.
Some of us, on "indefinite" will not get seen until 2018 at the current levels of people appealing and others with new claims. I noticed the Postal Codes are gradually getting to mine, but it will come under Capita, not ATOS.
I personally, can't wait until I am up for the "change-over", it would take a lot to turn me down on PIP, who would employ a person that has nearly 3 out-patient appointments each week? or every 10th week has to have 6 injections - that basically knock me out for the rest of the day! Yet, I'm still having to attend meetings with numerous Consultants regarding mental issues which they are trying to find out if they are caused by medication or are in fact medical.
I wish you all the best Jayne!
Regards,
Les.

Gawd, don't they come up with some excuses - there are ways of making dual recordings, but from the people I have spoken to, they did not inform ATOS mainly because - ATOS said they would not allow this to be done in any assessment by them, but when one of the people I told to take and make a recording of the assessment, it made her "0" points change to full. That happened when she got the brown envelope from the DWP with the reasons for allowing the Award to go through because of the number of points was zero. They could not deny what was on the recording because she had the name of the assessor and the assessment centre and date - enough evidence to put that ATOS assessor in that centre at that time and date, and a full recording. After checking her application form which she had photocopied before sending it, there was no way she could have had zero points against the descriptor sheet. She phoned tthem and asked why she was given zero points in her assessment, it was then that she said she had a recording and notes of the person that did the assessment, the DWP said they would look in to it and phone her back.
They did not phone her back, but said there was an error on her assessment, she did not get the full PIP, but did get Mobility Low rate and Care low rate - strange how zero points changed when she challenged them.
Asking you to make 2 recordings!! What a cheek, I would of said make your own copy, it cost more money to make 2 copies!! I can't believe they told your husband that, then again with ATOS anything is possible. Some of their assessors are nice and will help you out in many ways. If you are lucky you might have one of these and not one that twists everything you say.
I wish you all the best.

Les.
