Hi all, do any of you who have a pacemaker suffer discomfort around that area ? I.e. Aching, stinging or sharp stabbing pains ?

Hi,
I get general shoulder ache around that area after a while if arm isn't supported i.e. walking for longer periods of time. When my ICD was first installed shoulder pain was pretty much all the time. Also get the occasional pain (more stabbing) during the night but I now sleep with my arm over a pillow so it doesn't feel like ICD is being squashed - pains not so often now.

If you are concerned I'd go to the Drs or contact your hospitals cardiology clinic. Is there any redness on the skin surface or near scaring?. My ICD implant does a self analyse at 10am every morning and I've been told an alarm will sound if there is something wrong with the unit itself - not sure if pacemakers work the same way though. My also be muscles moving back into place around the pacemaker. For peace of mind get it checked out. Hope all ok
