Pacemaker restrictions

Posted , 3 users are following.

My husband had a pacemaker put in for a-fib about a month ago.

What restrictions have any of you encountered?

Will you always have weight restrictions? He wasn't allowed to lift anything over 5 pounds for the first month.

The weight restriction is to allow the incision site to heal properly.   There shouldnt be any restrictions at all once your husband has got used to the pacemaker and he should live a normal life.

If he drives and you are in UK he must inform the DVLA,and also his insurer. It will invalidate his licence if he does not and there is a hefty fine as well.

Its also advisable to not keep a mobile phone in a breast pocket near the device. Or magnets.

As long as he goes for the usual regular checks he should be fine.   If he feels there is something wrong it may be just a case of adjusting the settings:
