PACs

So I just had a followup with my cardiologist. He said that there were a few PACs on my 24 hour holter monitor.

He reassured me that they are not dangerous. We have done all the tests: blood test, holter, numerous EKGs, chest x-ray, MRI, echocardiogram.  And it all came back normal. No structural abnormalities, no irregular rhythms, heart is the right size and oxygenation is good.

But I can't help but be bothered by these. I've had them for years without having a name for what it was. Some days I'll have 1 or 2. Some days I have more. Sometimes I'll have an hour where I have several but none the rest of the day.

My question is will they ever stop. And is this completely benign or is it a sign of future issues?

He prescribed a medication (can't remember the name) and said I could take it as needed. Like if I was having a lot or on a bad day I could take it to settle them down. I just can't imagine living the rest of my life with these constantly around. I'm only 30.

     Hi Ashleigh.

I have also been dealing with this issue for the past two years. My cardiologist ran all the test and my results showed I was having severe PACs. He told me you to follow up in six months and call him if anything changed.

i’ve been doing a lot of research since then to find out what’s triggering these and I have found food and drink to be some of the cause for me.   I tend to be having this issue all day every day. I have also found there are individuals that have been dealing with this for over 25 years s. I am meeting with a Gastroenterologist  in a couple weeks to see if I may have a hernia that could be setting it off.

i’m curious as to what your doctor prescribed you was it a beta blocker?    I did a follow up with my GP and she seemed no  interest in my situation so this led me to realize I have to be my own advocate there’s so much information on the Internet and others like you dealing with this issue.

I believe it was a beta blocker. I read hiatal hernias could feel like palpitations I have a history of hernia and I've wondered this too.

You're too young to be obsessing over a few or even several PACs.  I recently had a monitor and was told I had

2,920 over the 24 hour period.  They classified them as frequent and will discuss this issue further when I come

for my November appt.  I have a structural heart defect (unfortunately, it was never dxed when I was young) and

at 65 I would be at risk for correction now, but it's not out of the question.  Stress can definitely complicate the situation, so I try not to get stressed out by anything, and medical marijuana can certainly mitigate those instances.  Good luck to you!
