Have you talked to a pain management specialist and had a lower spine mri. Many have severe sciatica after tor. Sometimes its a matter of exercise or possibly a series of apical injections. In my case I had a bad compression and required surgery. Don't guess, just get to the right Dr and get answers

The ortho dr. Said they have to take fluid out of the knee to tell if infection. We are getting a nerve study test today .n

Infection can appear in several ways. The 1st time it as it I had a huge amt of drainage (enough to soak the bandage, the ave wrap and the entire knee area of a pair if heavy sweat pants plus the sheet. THE second time it was pain and they had to to in deep to find source. Both required reopening the wound and The 8 week, twice a day antibiotic infusion but the 2nd time they had to take out the prosthesis and take me off the leg with toe touch weight bearing and no bend for 4 months. Then put in a new prosthesis.

Unless you are showing signs of extreme fatigue, nasuea, a large amt of heat in the knee or unusual discharge it most likely isn't an infection. Nerve damage along with excessive scar tissue can take months to correct as nerve are the last area to rebuild and then you think its finally over only to find the pain pops up somewhere else.

Obviousily, fear of the unknown is THE worst kind. Much easier to handle the truth.

Hi Jan asked to be sent for an MRI because xrays cannot always see everything, also are you sure its knee and not hip, referred pain is horrendous, trust me I know from experience
