Pain 2 weeks after ruptured ovarian cyst! Doctors told me nothing! Help!

Hi! 21 years old and one morning I experienced severe lower abdominal pain. It became harder to drive home with my sister and our kids. We made it home safe but at that point I sat in our living room sofa and stayed there hours in a fetal position. I was scared to go to the hospital (I know , stupid right?) so I tried to tough it out a few more days. When my symptoms didn’t stop, I went to the ER. There I waited hours , to only have a male doctor who was absolutely inconsiderate, a total jerk. He questioned me and made me feel very stupid for even being there. He then told me I had a ruptured ovarian cyst. And there’s was also internal bleeding. He mentioned I had a yeast infection and also gave me prescription for that as well. I was soon booted out and on my way home hoping for the best.. unfortunately my symptoms worsened and eventually before my follow up appt I experienced light spotting. I thought maybe my period was coming. But I never had spotting before my period. I should also mention I have the Nexplanon birth control implant in my left arm. The pain I have still is on my lower left side of my abdomen/pelvic area.  At my doctors appt my spotting remained at that. My doctor looked concerned and requested an ultrasound appt labeled “stat” so that way she could have the results immediately. Unfortunately that same night my period came on heavier than ever! It was extremely painful. The ultrasound appt had to be rescheduled, they wouldn’t see me until my bleeding stopped or lessened.  Today is March 29th 2018 and my period is over finally. My appt for the ultra sound is tomorrow. But still I have abdominal pain not as severe but it’s still there. It’s radiating upward now into my ribcage area. If anyone has experience anything like this please please share! Any advice will help! Thank u so much! Xoxo

What a terrifying experience! If it werea guy with a ruptured cyst in his reprodutive organs he'd be rushed to surgery. That dr should be reported.

My surgeon told me a ruptured cyst is a very serious event and could result in septic shock.

Did he give you an antibiotic at least?

These drs need to take ovarian cysts more seriously.

Hi lisa1616, I’m so so sorry for the late response!

Thank you for agreeing with me! I think he should be reported too!  And no I got no antibiotics

A month down the road I thought i was doing better and then my period comes again and now I’m having horrible pain on the left side again. 8 days for my period to end, which isn’t normal for me to have a period to last longer than 5 days. And now I’m having aggravating pain on both left and right ovaries! I’m not sure if I should wait or not to see if it lessens or if I should still get it checked out.

Wow. Appalled that the doctor let you leave with internal bleeding. 3 weeks ago I had internal bleeding from a ruptured hemorrhagic cyst (about 1 litre of blood in my abdomen) and was rushed into emergency surgery. My surgeon told me if I had waited any longer I could have died from the bleeding. Luckily they didn’t have to remove any ovaries or my uterus but it was a terrifying experience. I can’t believe that male doctor treated you like that! Have you gotten any CAT scans done? That should have been their next step for you. Sorry you had to go through that!
