I know the feeling I have told my doctors I want to get a knife and cut it out.

there are many suggestions for helping the pain. Me personally I drink coffee and tea and it works.  Other b suggest that you use heat from a radiator or heat bag.

It to be honest is trail and error till you find one thing that helps ease the pain.

I believe I have a Tumor because all my pain is in the back, my urine if I don't drink enough is dark brown, I just don't understand why doctors ignore you.... Because I am under the hospital waiting for a ct on my upper urinal tract, if they had a brain and put two and two together we may get some where... I have been telling them for nearly a year but am ignored, the pain in the flank and middle back is excruciating...

I suffer from pain alot. it depends on the level of your attack as to what damage has been done. it can be a caae that it never heals properly and you have other attacks or like mist of us bouts of pain.

The dark wee try drinking tea and plenty water one thing with this is to stay well hydrated.

I have had ct mri etc mt attack was a level 3 going to 4 they estimate it will take 5 years for my pain to ease and it will never be right. The reason they don't listen or seem not to is because they have a limited knowledge of the condition and the books state gallstones smoking excess alcohol.

This is a nice disease its a pain lol

Lyn, I had this my pee was dark brown/black like coffee. without milk, it turned out to a blockage of my bile-duct - Jaundice; they did an ECRP (a camera down my throat/stomach & I was sedated) & they cut my duodenum & fitted a plastic tube(stent) but by the time this occurs, you probable have a tumour of the Pancreas at the head(the beginning) which causes the blockage & the Pancreas gets inflated which also hurts your back, this is what happned to me! Insist upon having a blood test carried out to look for Cancer markers & a CT-Scan with dye to locate the tumour, mine(tumour) they say has stayed localised & at the head of the Pancreas & yours seems to be similar, get it seen to ASAP & go to Queen Elisabeth University Hospital Birmingham, England, a Prof. Mirza, he's the expert, in this type of treatment.  You must have it cut out ASAP! & then look at chemo therapy to stop it coming back, that's if unlike mine, your Immune system/blood Platelet Count is OK?  Hope this help!

I know the pain is excruciating. I hurt from July up to a couple of weeks ago.  I woke up one day and it had just stopped!  It's scaring the crap out of me. I finally got an appointment at University of California in San Francisco!  I've been trying for 6 weeks.  They have an entire Pancreatic Clinic!  I go in Dec. 3rd.  Cross your fingers.  I don't know what caused the pain to just stop.  I hope it's not cancer or something.

If the reason turns out to be nothing, I hope your pain, and everyone else's, just stops!  Hang in there y'all.

    Hi Lyn,

How long have you had pancreatitis for? Your doctor should give you stronger pain relief if tramadol isn't helping at all. You shouldn't have to be in pain all the time and I'm not surprised you say you feel like giving up! It's a very painful condition and it saps all of your strength and will! Tell your GP that tramadol and co-codamol don't touch the pain and they should offer either codeine or oramorph which is morphine in liquid form. There is also zomorph which is slow-release morphine, which your doc may prefer to try you on first. Hope this helps a bit 😊

    Regards,

    Pete

I tried getting a 10 minute appointment online with a doctor at my practice, could not believe it not one doctor available and that was up to the 6th December. I first had pancreatitis in the November of 2011 and was in hospital for 5 days, I didn't have a lot of pain but my abdomen was moving all over the place, but  I have never really felt right since....

I don't know what you have available in the UK, but I'm in USA and I take Norco (tylenol and hydrocodone, syntethic codine) and Dillaudid (synthetic heroin).  I have always had a strong resistance to medication and I take a double dose of each and it only takes the edge off the pain when I hit the top of the pain scale.
