Pain

Hi everyone. I hope you're all as well as can be. Maybe it sounds repetitive, I apologise in advance. This frozen shoulder, do you get awful pain in your whole arm. Like sometimes the top of my arm pulls so much and feels like it's going to snap!!! My elbow hurts and my hand aches. I'm sorry. I don't talk about the pain in detail to anyone and I know you lovely people are the only ones that understand, more importantly actually answer my questions. It's just reassurance sometimes, I think. I do get headaches too, especially later on in the day. Makes me so agitated !!!!
Also that insane pressure, like something or someone is pushing painfully down on me. If any of you have had it like that, how long does that last?? So many questions.
Thank you again. Lots of love to you all. Xx

I had pain from my fingertips to my shoulders, plus the neck and head. Different places would hurt at different times. Even moving my index finger to type sent shooting pains up my arm.
I think the reason is because everything is inflammed and it pushes and squeezes all the muscles and tendons. I thought my arm was going to dislocate whenever I bent down to pick something up with the other arm.
How long have you had FS? Have you had any treatment, injections, physio yet? Have you thought about surgery, it might be an option if you find you cannot cope - life is too short to spend years in pain!

It all started with my neck last September and this followed October/November.
I have an MRI (which I'm nervous about !!!) on the 10th April. They wouldn't do any Physio yet because of pain. No injections yet. They're waiting to see I think. Loads of pain meds though. Not enough sometimes!!!
Bending down is awful!!!!
How are you? What was surgery like? Long recovery? You have children too?? Xxx

I was worried about the MRI as I dont like small spaces, so had one of the upright MRI's, which was totally fine. At least you dont have to wait too long for it and once you know whether you have any tears or tendon issues they may reccomend manipulation or arthroscopic release depending on how bad it is.
Surgery was a godsend I was at the end of my tether with pain, the relief after surgery was great and any pain was so much better than FS. At 6 weeks post op I am feeling great, still feels weird of course, I am hoping to have at least 80% range of movement by 3 months, so it is not a quick fix.
I have two children, one at uni and a 10 year old who has been 'mummy's little helper' fetching and carrying.
You will feel so much better once you get a proper diagnosis and an action plan, hope you have a good sleep xxx

Yes it will be good to know what the hell has been causing all this pain!!!
I'm so happy that are making that recovery Cheryl. Are you a bit nervous too??!!!
I have a 'helper' too!! 2 have 'sort of ' left home, and 3 at home. My youngest is 6.
Well I hope you sleep good too. Night. Xx

Ive just had my 2nd steroid injection, and now in queue for hydrodilitation at hospital. The pain after the injection waz almost unbearable..i waz even thinking of dislocating it just so a and e would have to do something! But after 2 days pain subsided and im feeling a lot better...until i forget and it hurts again. I had to have x ray before the injection to make sure it was nothing else.
Once they know what it is you can start treatment.
X

this is was me from July till January this year! Nothing worked and nothing helped. The pains shooting down my arm into my hand were almost as painful as that stomach-churning pain you get if you move suddenly or someone bangs you! I've since had hydrodilation, which helped and had capsular release surgery yesterday! Don't let them tell you to just wait it out. Fight (and cry, it helps) for something to be done!! Good luck with the MRI, hopefully they will confirm FS and get on with your treatment!
Hope the pain is not too bad today. Lots of love. Xx

What's actually involved with the 2 surgeries you've had? Are you feeling any relief yet? I do hope so. Xx

Hydrodilation was ok actually. They insert a long needle into your shoulder, under the collar bone then firstly inject some local anaesthetic. They then inject 3 or 4 syringe full's of different fluid. Saline and a strong cortisone. During the procedure my shoulder felt very heavy, like an elephant was sitting on it but it wasn't really painful. The heaviness lasted a few days but it definitely helped with that constant ache. Hydrodilation is fully successful in about 80% of patients and I would definitely recommend having this first, especially if you're worried and who wouldn't be after your experience!? It's pretty quick, took about 20 mins, and I'd definitely say for me it was uncomfortable rather than painful. It's worth trying I think and you can always have surgery afterwords like I did.
Hope this helps and you get the help you need! Xx

My my pain really calmed down after the hydro, which I've explained to Debbie, almost like it pushed me into the frozen, less painful stage. I just didn't get enough movement back so went for the surgery.
Arthroscopic capsular release is a keyhole surgery which involves cutting through the adhesions to give you more movement. I'm 4 days in and being very good, exercising, icing and resting! It's sore, but nothing like that FS pain. I got a solid 5 hours of sleep last night too!!
Keep fighting, it does get better, I promise!! Xx

Thanks for that. Ive no idea what stage im at tbh. I keep thinking im at stage 2 but then im in so much pain think im still at stage 1. its a heavy feeling most of the time but by the time i go to bed its worse with the pain going up into my neck. I think thats mainly due to me not moving it enough. After the physio i could do her exercises okbut nowfeel its stiff again....whichis what happened after the first injection. I just went to put something on the 2nd shelf in thefridge and was reminded quite sharply that my arm doesnt go that high! Oh the joys of a fs. I do thank u all for keeping me sane tho. As some of u will know ive had a problem with another lady at work....and i forgot to update u, she was off work with stress last week!!! So after giving ME hassle i then am left to do her work along with mine, at my busiest time of the month. Makes me want to opt for surgery just so that i am off work for a long time and let them suffer! :-( xx
