Pain 3years after lateral lingual hernia repair

Posted , 2 users are following.

Suddenly 3yeasr after the repair of my lingual hernia I am experiencing very sharp stabbing pains in my groan and repair area. Feels tight and almost like a cramp spasm there when it hurts.  Could I have ripped the area again! I can’t see or feel any bulge. When I lie down the pain goes away. But when I stand for a long time or sit for a long time it comes back....

Has anyone else experienced this or any ideas what it could be or treatment for it? Could I have damaged it by over doing things, lifting heavy things!

I'm a 42 year old woman, small build, not over weight.

    Hi

As stupid as this will sound, I am so happy to hear that someone is in exactly the same position that I am. I have exactly the same symptoms. I am at my wits end as my surgeon has advised that operating further at the moment will be risky and very extensive. I have had both meshes removed as I rejected them and they were in a terrible mesh and the pain... I have a small piece left which I can feel and is causing me shocking pain.

It’s alway a relief to know you’re not the only one!

yes I have heard that going under the knife again can be an unwise idea. So sorry your body rejected the mesh so badly. I have heard of this and now it’s three years on am hoping my mesh is ok and that this is something different.

i am hoping that I have simply strained the area, muscles. Am trying to take it easy and not lift too much right now. Am taking ibruprofen and have been told to maybe ice pack in the evening....

im on a business trip for another three weeks so I can’t go to hospital just yet to be checked!

have you had the area scanned? Has it torn open again?

i have had ultra sound in the past, although this was rather unconfortable it helped hugely with the break down of knotted scar tissue and lumps. Eased the the pain.

i will try this again when I am home and see if will help again.
