Pain 4 weeks post repair

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi, I am 54 and had anterior and posterior repair with perineal repair 4 weeks ago as I had a large cystocele etc. I had hysterectomy and ovaries removed 2 years ago. I am getting a lot of pelvic discomfort, very much period pain and feeling of pressure in my pernineum , no bleeding etc and I'm not constipated . Is this normal or any one else experience this? Surgery was done vaginally.

Hi Sarah, Is this the time when they told you to start doing normal activities, it sounds like youre either over doing it or it may be swelling from being up vs laying down(swelling and gravity) and it may be due to starting to do more....it can't hurt to call your Dr...to be sure this is considered normal at this stage...be sure to tell them what activities you have been doing, as you're making your list, consider if you may be doing more than you realized?! Good Luck feel better!!💒🐾🎶💞💞☮🌈♾🍀

Thank you so much, I have been trying to get back to some normality, nothing heavy I hasten to add, but walking for longer periods. I will try taking it easy over the next few days and see if it settles. I think, as many seem to, that I completely underestimated what major surgery this was. I guess given the current situation globally, I am going to get a lot longer than planned to recover.

This sort of surgery is always under estimated ,mainly because you cant show anyone your scars so you are treated by others as OK.You should have plenty of rest every day with your feet up. 4 weeks is no time at all and you are probably still swollen and healing. Gravity can pull on all those cut and tender tissues. It can take 2 months to start to feel normal and you should give yourself 3 months before totally healed. Its worth resting to get a good result from the procedure. I hope you have some help for shopping and anything where you are standing, like cooking or washing. You can take Ibuprofen to help with any discomfort
