    Dear Julie

I hear your pain and desparation but do not give up.  You must be someones daughter, maybe a wife or mum, but others around you love you and need you.  I felt this way, and got to the point that I even thought I was imagining it, and forcing it upon myself, perhaps it was all psychological.  It was not - it took 18 months before I was diagnosed with achalasia.  Do not give up - push your doctor to send you a specialist - keep going to the doctors until they do - dont sit back and take it - be proactive and keep on going - keep up the forum - tell us what the problems are - the user's are great and we may be able to help.

    Hi Julie 74890

I know it is hard for anyone to believe you, becasue the pain has no disfurgement outside your body it is all within and it is only you who knows what you are going through, I had reflux issues but it was silent reflux and I felt like I was getting choked  without anyother symptoms, did barium contrast, Gastroscopy nothing showed up, I completely understand what you are going as i was in the same situation as everyone thought I was a hypocondriac and going to work was hard so i can really relate to what you are going, my daughter has IBSand she was like six months pregnant, she gave up one job becasue the people at work siad that she was just trying to take time off but they were not in her shoes, no one should judge anyone except for God, we dont know what  people are going through, I dont know if you are a believer of prayer, but I changed my view as I knew no one else could help me, anyway there is a reason we are all here, and you will get your answers, dont ever let others opinions bother you, I know it is hard, but they are inconsderate and ignorant, and dont give anyone the satisfaction of making you feel like you do, there are people there that care for you, think of them too, tell us what is your issues and maybe there will be someone out there who might be able to give you some infomation so you can go in the correct path to diagnose your own ssues,  Have you been tested for Hpylori, if it is a gut issue, dont give up there is an answer somewhere.  God Bless you

Julie I understand how you are feeling and I am sure that many of us feel the same as you because every day feels like a challenge. Doctors here in the UK in my experience do not seem to have a clue on how to treat this illness so we are all having to try and treat ourselves by monitoring our diet.Like you I too get fed up with feeling I'll but we have to continue you living with the problem for the sake of our loved ones and friends.Your boss dies not sound a very nice person and I too have worked for a person like that so I know how you are feeling. Just take some comfort from knowing that you genuinely have an illness and there is very little they can do when you take time off of work. Best wishes Ted

Hello Julie;  it really is heartbreaking when we hear someone sooo desperate as you.  Please don't give up.....we will all help you to find the answers you seek/need.  If you reply with all of your symptoms, and together we can start to lead you in the right directions.  My first suggestion is to Talk to your GP (and if you feel he/she is not listening), seek another...ask others in your circle or go through the local web site for a GOOD, personable GP (there are ways that I use...even by how the receptionist reaponds is a good indicator of what type of doctor they work for)....tell the doctor how you are feeling, how desperate you are, and perhaps, even for a short while, ask for a mild anti-depressant....I have taken an anti-depressant when my life seemed to be out of my control, and when looking for answers.....the role of some anti-depressants are "to help us think clearly"; before I started, I asked the prescribing doctor "how long will I have to take these for?"  His answer was " you will know when you don't need it....when you can think issues over in your head rationally"...he was right....One day I was able to do a Crossword again, which I hadn't been able to do for some months....and Bingo...I thought to myself "he was right, I can think clearly again".   Do you think this may help, as of tomorrow, and then start researching/looking for the other answers you are wanting?  Please speak to any doctor ASAP, and then let us know how your first step went......I will be waiting......Bron

    Dear Julie

I suffer from severe acid reflux and digestion problems . I have been like this for the last 6 years. The pain is excruciating at times.

Please do not give up !!

My gp has sent me for various tests and

Procedures . I am now waiting for a

Operation to help improve my condition.

But it has taken a long time to get to this

    Point.

I have found the support and advice on

This site to be really helpful.

    Good luck with everything

Hi Julie.   It's likely you're getting this in the mornings as the acid rises easily when you are lying down.   A simple thing to do that might solve your problem is to raise the head of the bed.   Put books, blocks, bricks or something similar under the bed legs at the head of the bed - about 3-4 inches is good.   This means that the acid has to work against gravity making it harder to rise.   Don't be tempted to increase your pillows instead as this will scrunch your stomach and may make the problem worse.   It can feel a bit weird at first but should really help.   If you find yourself slipping down the bed, roll up a towel or blakent into a long sausage and tuck it in either side at the bottom of the bed.   This will give your feet support to stop the sliding down.   That should do the trick.

Dear Julie, I am so sorry to hear how you are feeling. This is a truly horrible illness and all of us who suffer with it can really sympathise with you.

I have found that eliminating certain trigger foods from my diet can greatly improve how you feel, it can be a struggle when you like certain foods and are reluctant to give them up. I am due for another endoscopy soon and after that is done I am really going down the diet/nutrition route. Another thing I do is spiritual healing, it's funny because you can do it for others but don't always think about giving yourself healing. I don't know if you believe in this but it has really helped a lot of people. I also use crystals for healing, you can place certain crystals on the skin and they help you release any pain and toxins in the body. I once wore a turquoise crystal for several days by sticking it on my solar plexus and you may laugh, but it really did help. I hope you can take comfort in everyone's words and any information that will help you.
