Pain 7 months after Kneecap Replacement

I had my kneecap replacement in Oct. 2017 (7months ago) and found it to be a very hard recovery. My bend and extension are great but I have constant pain around the knee. Now I am getting severe pain going up my thigh as well. I am also told that in my sleep I sporadically kick out ONLY my right leg at least 15 times in the night. That’s the same leg I had the kneecap replacement on. I never did this prior to the surgery. I would like to know if anyone else is having this much pain or the leg kicks this long after surgery. I cannot just get up and walk right away either.

Sometimes my leg hyperextends and it is painful. I just want to be normal and have my life back!  I used to drive a big school bus for a living but unfortunately it is my driving leg and I am no longer able to drive a school bus anymore so I am stressed about finding work on top of all this pain!! Please, I would love to hear from you!

Hi. I had knee replacement some 9 weeks ago I know I am at the early stages but my leg kicks out as well but it use to kick out prior to operation and I thought it would stop after op but it hasn't, I am also in pain but manageable, my knee pain isn't getting any less but at least its not getting any worse, the swelling isn't going down either? people I speak to say your pain will go overnight and the swelling? I also am a school bus driver and I want to go back to work but red tape is preventing me from doing so, because my surgeon put on my sick note 4 months they say I cant go back until then? my surgeon wont say its ok for me to go back as its something they don't do anymore? they are thinking it might be ok for me to work on school site and do odd jobs which I have never done before so i don't really know what to do? surely if you feel ok to go back to work whats the problem? I am still doing physio and there are some people in physio still there after 12 months, I just feel as though this pain is always going to be there but at least its manageable. hope all you knee replacement people are sooner or later going to be pain free, fingers crossed for you, I never realised how painful knee replacement is, still got to get on with it. Max
