Pain a year and a half after a THR.

Hi, so I've basically been housebound since the end of February. I'm 33 and have a two year old son so not ideal. My replacement went great and I was getting on with my life until the end of Feb. Horrendous pain in my buttock and also slight pain at the front of the hip and into the groin( which is now awful) pain in buttock sorted with Pregabalin . I went into hospital and had a scan which showed my iliopsoas tendon was rubbing on my new hip. So I see the surgeon (who doesn't want to touch me as I've had 5 hip surgeries prior to the THR). He says he can't do anything for me! I went to the pain clinic today and the diagnosed me with SI joint pain and inflammation. I'm to have the joint injected soon but I still think it's my iliopsoas tendon. Anyone with similar problems? I'm in so much pain!

    Hi Cressida

No one would listen to me or touch me either after 2 thr back in 2009 /11 until I could no longer deal with the pain I finally found a surgeon that listened. But involved a further revision. After that one I had intense groin pain that I could not deal with plus2 dislocations.

My tendon was being pinched or trapped I had a fuerther 2 revisions and 2 tendon releases, I’m 6 mths post op from the 5th revision, and still in intense groin pain. I’ve also had ultrasound guided cortisone injections that have not helped. I’m on a wait list for physio. I ask so often is there ever an end to it I’m so over the pain and want my life back.hope you get some help.

I'm so saddened by your message. I'm so sorry that you've had to go through so much pain and suffering. I hope you find some relief soon.

I am too, in your predicament. I'm 33 and I've had more than 12 years (on and off) of this kind of awful pain that stops me living my life. I just feel that this surgeon is knows my hip replacement is structurally sound so he doesn't care about the little tendons or whatever but these little tendons are ruining my life! Anyway, I see my surgeon tomorrow so we shall see. Take care Donni.

Hi, yes we do but hopefully my surgeon is listening now! For some reason he's gone from totally dismissive and telling me he won't do anything to yesterday's appointment: I want to do every test known to man! He doesn't think it's my SI joint or tendon rubbing on my cup as I'm in too much pain. He doesn't know what it is so he's sending me to someone who hopefully does. Possibilities are unstable cup, infection or a fracture somewhere. I'm more hopefull now.

Once again, I hope someone fixes you.
