Pain after 2 hip replacements

hi All
Ive had hip dysplasia since birth on both hips. progressively worsen these last 5 years.
I was in chronic pain, severe mobility issues and walked horrendously bad.
in Dec 2019 had first hip operation on hip which was the best of both hip but still bad, and that went well. in Feb 2021 I has the other hip operation (would have been earlier but c19 hit)
Since I have good and bad days and appreciate I had OA /arthritis, but maybe I'm wrong but thought having Operations would clear the oa/arthritis?? I've been on to consultant as some days I literally can hardly walk. the first leg operated on like freezes and feels like a lead weight and cannot go to work and I have stiffness in pelvis area and pain there too when I stand or bend. I get a sharp pain going through my thigh (think nerve issue here and I literally cannot take food out of the cooker or stand washing up.
I appreciate I had bad hip dysplasia but honestly thought I'd be better with the op.
am i stupid thinking that i would be better after ops?? anyone else been like this??
I feel like a fraud, but I'm not right and hoped I would be!

HI Vickie ,
im so sorry to hear of your suffering, i too am still suffering after two hip surgeries .
If you could take a look at some of the other recent threads i have posted my experience there
we sufferers have to stick together and share our stories as we all know how much our lives are turned upside down as a result of the problems we share . it took two years for my first THR to improve , i am on my second one and not sure where that is going to go yet .
Best wishes Vanna.

Hi Vickie,
did you have posterior aproach with the long incision or anterior small incision.
MY firsthip was posterior and was much more difficult to get mobile again and took nearly two years to be acceptable although i still have pain in groin when lifting leg left to right,
must be catching a tendon there. I too with that surgery felt the leg to be really stiff and heavy for a long time because they cut through muscle and it takes longer to heal and mobilise .
MY second hip done last September was anterior minimal invasive and initially was brilliant could not believe the difference from first one. Was walking without aid around the house after three weeks and no pain. OF course still had to take it easy could not run a marathon. No cutting through muscle! HOWEVER six weeks later NHS PHSIO had me doing side leg lifts etc with resistance bands and have suffered ever since.
Swelling around hip, formation of scar tissue and pain in back knee and ankle, just too much strain on the soft tissue. The hip joint itself isnt too painful but painful sitting because of swelling around the new joint seemingly brought on by the physio?
Its hard to get head round all the discomfort so frustrating too , especially wondering if we ever be right again.!? Its also hard to accept that some have better recovery than others isnt it? So sorry you too are finding yourself in this awful cycle of pain , it sure does test ones sanity for sure . You certainly arnt alone and hope u can hang in there till it gets better for you .
BEST WISHES FELLOW SUFFERER!
