Pain after esophageal biopsies....

Posted , 4 users are following.

Had an gastroscopy earlier today where they took a couple of biopsies from the esophagus in addition to the biopsies of the ventricel. It hurt when they took the biopsies from the esophagus and now a couple of hours after the procedure it hurts when I eat or drink, especially if I drink something a little bit sour like juice.

I don't experience too much pain from the biopsies from the ventricel.

Has anyone else experienced pain during and after biopsies of the esophagus?

How long did the pain last?

I had 10 biopsies done and it hurt for a couple of days. I found that drinking ginger tea (cut up ginger and put in warm water) helped a lot after day 1. Good luck! smile

Hi Summertime2018. Thank your for your reply.

Did you have 10 biopsies done only in your esophagus or was it a mix between the esophagus and ventricle?

Did you think the biopsies from the esophagus were more painfull than the ones from the ventricle?

I had minor pain associated with a deep sore throat feeling as and it also hurts when you drink large amounts of water, I had an endoscopy done before but since my ulcer was in my esophagus it developed a sore throat feeling which I am still getting 3 weeks later. I have an appointment with my GI tomorrow so she can clarify what’s going on. I hope it’s just from swallowing large amounts of water because GERD is not good especially when you’ve had an ulcer in that area. You want to stay away from any acid or hott foods as it will irritate it

      Hi shane 47342,

A sore throat feeling Ive been getting after every gastroscopy. For me it  usually subsides within a couple of days.

The pain Im feeling now is more sharp. It feels like Im swallowing glass rolleyes. Right now the only thing that works alright is water.

Did you have biopsies of the esophagus done?
