Pain after extraction

Posted , 3 users are following.

i had my tooth filled 10 days ago due to pain.  Pain worsened following this.  Returned 2 days later and tooth extracted.  Despite stating that I have a history of dry socket problems i was told I was at no more risk than anyone else!  Have been in constant pain since, taking analgesics 4 hourly.  Will this settle with time?  I really don't want to go back to same dentist.

Hi Patricia. I also had an extraction on Wednesday last week and I'm still worrying about it. Have you been doing your salt water rinsed and keeping it clean?

Did the dentist give you any clue why you are still in pain?   Did he have trouble pulling the tooth?  I haven't had one pulled in along time so I don't really remember but I don't think I had that much pain.  I have a jaw tooth that has a crown and an botched root canal that I am going to have to do something with.  Of course the endodonist said I need to have the root canal redone.  I am seriously thinking about having it pulled.  It is a old crown and I am afraid I'll spend my 1300.00 and I still will have trouble with it and end up having it pulled anyway. I said I would never have another one pulled but I don't know.  I hope your pain goes away soon.  I might go to another dentist.  I have about lost faith in any of them.  Hope you get better.

Thank you for your response.  There was no trouble actually extracting the tooth but as I had severe pain beforehand I did ask whether an X-ray was needed and was told it wasn't necessary.  In the past with severe toothache I have been given antibiotics prior to extraction but was told again that this wasn't necessary.  I think I will be looking for another dentist!

I think I would see someone else and at least get a second opinion.  I've been to four or five different ones and everyone told me everything for I don't know what you problem is to one wanted to set me up with tens unit therapy and a mouthpiece for 8,500.00.  I do'n't have dental insurance myself.  I've spent over 1,700.00 and still don't know whats wrong with my teeth.  Hope you get better.

Thank you.  I might very well get a second opinion as I am still in a lot of pain 5 days post extraction.
