Pain after orif ankle surgery

Hello Everyone

I fractured my ankle in July and had orif ankle surgery 8/31/22. Everything went well and I was NWB and in a hard cast for 6 weeks (miserable). Last week at my doctors appointment I got the ok to transition to boot and PWB, which has been going well. However, my question for you is, does anyone have pain (like a stinging/burning/tingling sensation) at the bone graft site (site of incision where they cut the donor bone out). It is not incredible pain, but enough so to make me worry that I am not healing correctly. Thanks!

Yes, I had that same pain/sensation for 3 more weeks. It made sleeping a harder a lot of the time, too. It does go away and it's pretty common from what I've read. I even asked the surgeon about it and it wasn't a concern.

OTC meds might help depending on how effective they are for you. I tried every combination of Ibuprofen and acetaminophen but the only thing that really helped was time.

Thank you so much for your reply. It has been two weeks since i have been weight bearing and the pain has diminished greatly. I have also been taking Aleve and applying Biofeeeze.
