I have been where you are, debilitating pain from endometriosis, ovarian cysts, paps were never normal. I had a partial hysterectomy when I was 29, everything was removed except my left Fallopian tube and ovary. I begged for a total hysterectomy but my doctor had other ideas. I ended up in the hospital a month later with an abscess for a week. Terrible scar tissue where my cervix was removed so the doctor began to use acid to alleviate some of the scar tissue. 6 months later I ended up in the ER once again after 2 weeks of a high fever and immediate surgery to save my life because the Fallopian tube and ovary prolapsed into my vaginal canal from all of the acid at procedures and my body went septic. During that surgery I lost part of my large intestine, gallbladder, appendix, last ovary, Fallopian tube, another 1/2 inch of my vaginal canal and an enormous amount of infected scar tissue.  It saved my life but it has been nothing less than miserable. The amount of scar tissue I have now, dwarfs the endometrial pain from before and other than more surgeries to keep removing the scar tissue, I’m stuck dealing with it. They’ve tried birth control, shots, but I stop at pain medicine because addiction runs in my family.  I know my situation is rare but anyone I know who is considering a partial, I always tell them go big or go home. I’ve never been on hormones, I dealt with a couple years of hot flashes and mood swings but that all started with my partial anyways, it’s just prolonging the menopause effect. There isn’t much else in my opinion that would help. I wish you all the luck! Being menopausal while all of my friends we’re having the time of their lives wasn’t fun but now the tables have turned. I’m done and they are just now starting to complain of hot flashes. I remind them of all of the jokes they made about me, so they have it coming! You will be in my prayers dear one ❤️

Wow, your story sounds horrific. I am so sorry. I just posted my story above. I have even more scar tissue after the hysterectomy last year. Mainly from cervix removal, and when they scraped endo off my right inner hip ligament. My cut nerves cause the most pain ( only get so many steps a day before I have to use a walker just too get around the house ) . Chronic pain affects quality of life. But, if you are able too still function without pain medicine that us great. I am off narcotics and now on buprenorphine. It works like a narcotic, but, you still feel like yourself ( not medicated or high ) . It is long acting, so you take it 1x per day. I still have to be super careful and not overdue activities ( pull scar tissue or the cut nerves that have neuromas now ) . The med is NOT addicting, so, check it out if things get worse. Dr.s always make surgery sound casual, it is amazing how bad they can damage you fir life. Glad you made it through ok.

Hi. I have had the same problems as you. Just had my 7 th abdominal surgery. With every surgery there is the risk of developing adhesions ( scar tissue ) and cut nerves. They really should have taken at least one of your ovaries already. My first surgery went fine ( tubal pregnancy, removed right tube). 2 new one was Laproscopic too remove grapefruit size cyste on right ovary. Also came out of that ok. A year later I had another large cyste on the same right ovary. A Dr. I did not know well decided I needed emergency Laproscopic too address it. HE literally butchered me, it changed my life forever. He damaged my abdominal wall on left side and cut the illiougenal and genital femoral nerves in half. Woke up in so much pain I could not even speak. I was bleeding internally from abdomen wall as well. After 2 days had an exploratory surgery..they put clips on the nerves ( too prevent them from frayed growing and worse pain ) and removed the hematoma. After that I Was in a wheelchair. A year later they put in hernia mesh..still horrific nerve pain going down left leg. Then 3 yrs later the hernia mesh broke and migrated. By now, getting a 6 th surgery too dig this broken mesh out..by that time I had developed several large fibroids, and was diagnosed with endometriosis..( the endo was the cause of all the cysts ) After suffering horribly for 3 more years I finally found a nationally renowned surgeon willing to do the desperately needed hysterectomy. She advised keeping my left ovary, as it seemed to be the healthy one because it reduces your rusk of heart disease and bone loss later in life keeping at least one ovary. Do not mean to scare you. But, if you do not absolutely need to remove them..then don't risk it. plus, latest studies show it is better fir you to have them , at Keaton one. I have had cysts fir years, and I know they are a bother and painful. But believe me it could be a whole lot worse. I am disabled now with chronic pain the rest of my life..it is not worth risking surgery unless you absolutely can not stand to live the way things are. Good luck.
