Do you use a barrier cream? Something like aveeno, cetraben or oilatum between going to the toilet. It helps a lot, keeps the urine from coming in contact with the sore bits. I have lichen planus also, and was told to put some moisturiser on paper when I wipe, feels a bit odd at first, but only a small amount, and it does work. Also drink a lot, and make the urine more dilute. It sounds as though youve not got on top of the vaginitis yet. You can always put the cream, is it ovestin? on the vulva as well, its only very weak, it heps the tissues there as well as inserting it.

Thank you for your answer. That makes sense. Yes i use the ovestin outside. Can you use the barrier creams you suggested inside? That's where it hurts. I am in Australia. I wonder what i could use? I could ask at the pharmacy for advice?

By inside, you can use on inner vulva, vestibule, perineum, round urethra, I wouldnt use vaginally, but urine wont get there anyway. I also use cheeky panda bamboo toilet roll, its very soft and natural, doesnt break up, and has no synthetic stuff in like bleach, which ordinary toilet roll has in to whiten it. I buy from amazon or ebay.

If possible dont wear undies or trousers, long skirts are the best

Thank you laura. I will try all of That . Atrophy has given me a lot of trouble since menopause. Miserable condition. I ask for advice to see if anyone has anything new. I know a lot about it. Some things work, some things don't, bur its worth trying. Thanks again.

Sounds like an UTI. Have you seen a doctor. If it is a UTI, you need an antibiotic to clear it up. All the creams in the world will not help.

Definitely not a uti. I have had many. Its vaginal atrophy from menopause. One of the many miserable symptoms that come and go.

When mine starts acting up I use more of the Estrace Cream my doc prescribes. I'm allowed to use as much or as little as I need per my doc. I use unscented unbleached toilet paper, no bleach, fabric softeners, or scented detergent on my under garments.. I also vigilantly do my kegel exercises and that helps a ton. I'd say call your doc and see if he approves of using more of your cream. That seems to be my saving grace when it starts acting up..

    Good Luck!! This is miserable!

oh! I forgot I also use coconut oil internally when I'm feeling extra burning since the cream needs to stay put over night to be effective.

Thank you for that. I will talk to my doc. There was advice on here about toilet paper and I've been going that. It's making a difference.
