Pain and bruising where cannula was

When I was in hospital in Cyprus with pnuemonia, I had a cannula placed in my hand for IV antibiotics. This was July. I'm pretty sure they left it in for too long, as i had it in from the Saturday until the Tuesday. On the Tuesday, I had like a water blister that seemed to formed and it was getting redder and redder. They took it out and replaced it, but I do think the cannula snapped in my hand. To this day, it's still quite tender and small bruises appear randomly. I feel stupid going to see a doctor about it. I have venepuncture training tomorrow and I'm tempted to ask about it.

Has anyone experienced this?

No question is to stupid to ask. If you are in pain this needs to be addressed sooner than later. By all means bring it up in your class.
