Pain and swelling at 8 weeks post op?

I had an anterior and posterior repair 8 weeks and 3 days ago. Over the past couple of days I have had the thick sticky swollen feeling inside again which had been away for a couple of weeks , my back has also been really hurting.

I have done more than I have been due to it being Christmas by I haven't been lifting anything heavy. I know you shouldn't look but I can't help it and the bulge ( swelling ) at my bladder side is still there. Is this normal?

I'm due back at work in 2 weeks time, if I am still swelling up now with only slightly more activity what will it be like when I'm at work for hours.

I am so worried this repair hasn't worked or that I do anything to damage it , my consultant only does a follow up phone call at 12 weeks but due to Xmas it's going to be 16 weeks before I speak to him , just looking for any experiences or advice from anyone , thank you xx

how long do you have to wait to have a prolapse repair or rectocele and why do they call it a rectocele when it is a prolapse i dont understand that why have two names for the condition or are they different

I waited 7 weeks to see the gynacologist to get diagnosis then another 8 weeks for the surgery which i have been told was very quick. The waiting time for my area can be 16 weeks for assesment then up to 16 weeks for the surgery, every area will have different waiting times so i would check with your hospital. I dont know why there are so many different names as they all seem to mean the same thing.

Hi Christine. Surprised you've not had more feedback on this subject. A rectocele is a prolapse of the rectumthe vagina. Cystocele is prolapse of the bladder into the vagina. You can also have a uterine/womb prolapse and enterocele, a bit higher up than a rectocele, four different types prolapse, there may be more, not sure about that. All need different types of surgery performed by a urogynaecologist. (UK)

I am in Scotland, our waiting times seem to be quite good, the longest you will wait to see someone is 16 weeks then the operation is done within 16 weeks max. Can you not go back to your doctors and just keep pestering them to get an appointment, my fingers are crossed you get one soon xx
