Pain at 5 months

Tomorrow I'll be 5 months postop partial hip replacement...Now that I'm trying to go about my normal activities I'm feeling more pain....specially standing like when I cook and walking....Does anyone know if this is normal?

I thought that things should be less painful.

congrats on your new hip. after three hips i will add that each one was different. its always patience and rest that helps heel . the time it takes differs from many factors age, endurance , physical shape or primary famage to the hip jointetc.

there is short term recovery 6-8 weeks after surgery when your cleared to drive and released by the surgeon. then long term recovery when regaining muscle tone strength and endurance and no pain. walking is the very best form of exercise. most people think physical therapy and daily exercise program will help recovery faster and better. not really just walking and allowing your body to heal , rest and take time to relax and patience will eventually lead to the days we all wait for. no pain and doing everything we enjoy doing.

your only 5 months from major surgery. rest when your tired and hip pain sets in. ice and keep leg up when resting. dont over do. listen to your hip it talks to you lets you know when you need to stop and rest.

even though our operation was a bit easier than the full hip replacement, it still took me a couple of years before I had no problems with it at all. Even now, if I do a little bit more than I should, it reminds me it isn’t my own hip.

I am thankful for your question and reading the responses. I am just over 6 months from my THR and yes, I still have pain. I have taken up riding a bike and it was helping a lot until I tried to ride up a hill. Too much force was needed and my hip complained loudly, and is still complaining 3 days later.

Hi Victoria! Thanks for the response.....Do you think using a stationary bike is safe for me to use?...I had a PHR posterior/cemented.

Are you able to walk unassisted n nit limp?..My hip feels stiff n painful when moving around.

Had my xray done yesterday (6months post op) .Dr. said it looked good....but has no answers why I'm limping so bad n in pain when I walk....He makes me feel that that's the way it's going to stay....and I'm so sad....

I live alone n this is not an option or do I want to live like this the rest of my life....

Do you think it still gets better?
