Pain at night

Hi, I am 13 weeks post op after left THR. I'm not doing too bad in the day but starting to dread bedtime! The pain in my leg is really bad, like a really dull ache from my groin to my ankle. I'm taking morphine and massaging my leg before bed but it's not working. Has anyone else suffered with this?
Thanks :-)

It takes time. But I would let my orthopedic surgeon be aware of the pain. I'm at 16 weeks out & still have an aching type pain especially at the end of the day.
It can take us an entire year to get over this kind of major surgery.

Oh, I hear you, Jodie! Me too! I'm just 5 weeks post op, so somewhat discouraging to know you're still experiencing this! Let me ask, what's better for this ache, heat or ice? I'm guessing ice, in case there is still inflammation.
I see my surgeon in 12 days, so will definitely be discussing this with him!
We all know this is major surgery that takes time to recover from, but easier said than done! Hang in there! Hoping you are feeling better real soon! That dull ache can be exhausting! Please stay in touch and let us know how you're doing.
Jean.

Morning Jodie. Most pain is at night when our muscles relax. Maybe your doing too much during the day. Try taking it easier and maybe more rest breaks during the day. It's not good to be in pain when you need your sleep at night. But it wouldn't hurt to consult the dr. Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery and healing. God's blessings to you. Hugs 🤗 LINDA

that does not sound so good, honey and I am sorry to hear this ...
is it keeping you awake ?
do you feel pain during the day, when you are moving around ? are you walking unaided ?
some pain is expected - you had major surgery -
Any type of major orthopedic surgery causes disruption to the rest of your body. In all likelihood, whatever your body has been doing to compensate for your hip pain or malfunction has also been causing problems all on its own.
A great deal of the recovery takes place in the first two months, but complete return to normal takes longer. Bone around the metal parts keeps changing and remodeling for 1 to 2 years after surgery, which is why you can feel deep aches some times -
do you have an appointment with your surgeon? maybe go and see him just to make sure everything is okay -
how are you getting on otherwise?
big warm hug

Jodie38566,
Sorry to hear about sleeping problems. I can't take the morphine, I have bad reactions to that stuff.
I have taken everything over the years for mostly phantom pain from amputation when I can't sleep. simple sleep Aid like benedryl helps some. But I have been on Ambien and even zxan at times over the years. What helps you sleep the pain stops once you are are asleep. I also have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine to aid in sleeping.

Hi Jodie
I have EXACTLY the same problem. I'm fine during the day but , like you, dread night times.
Last night I took a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel ( I might try something a bit more waterproof tonight!) to bed with me and laid it on a pillow under my calf and it really did help.
Worth a try?
Denise 😊

Hi Jodie,
It take time ,it is big op9 but I will still talk to surgeon or your GP. May be you are doing to much, Try take iit easy for a few days and see how you go. If you still have a pain at night after few days call the surgeon. Good luck
and take it easy.
Big heeling hug Madla💗
