Pain caused by Fibroids

'Pain' is often listed as a symptom of uterine fibroids. But this is a very vague word, and can't possibly describe the rainbow of discomfort and pain we might experience as a result of these fibroids.

I want to start this group to find out whether other women are experiencing extreme pain as a result of their fibroids (mine are multiple, the largest about 15cm, intramural). I realise pain is often listed as a symptom, but mine is debilitating and causes me to be unable to sit in a computer or dining chair for very long, having to work from home, feeling unable to 'do very much' in general. Is this something others have also experience of, or is your pain different? Thanks everyone, your responses are appreciated,

Teaandbiccy, (Glasgow, Scotland.)

I have several fibroids with the largest being 17cm. I had an abdominal myomectomy in 2009 but they returned with a vengeance. My pain is sometimes excruciating. It is hard for me to function on a daily basis because most movement cause pain. When I walk, bend down, sit for periods of time, lift, clean up, exercise, or anything of that nature I end up in the bed balled up in a knot from pain. I take painkillers but even those don't help most days.

I have a multiple Fibroid and have a Laporoscopy surgery removal at Columbia Asia Johor Malaysia, my Dortor during the surgery is Dr Rohaini, my surgery was done on 18/7/2017, I though after surgery, my fibroid will be gone but give me a shock when I go for pap smear at another Specialist hospital, I still have 3 big size Fibroid inside my body.

Can anyone experience this situation that the fibroid grow back as big as 4.7cm within 4 month after surgery ?

Mine was 8cm and the pain was bad, I can’t imagine how painful must be yours. I had a laparoscopic myomectomy 4 months ago and it was the best decision I took. My life is now better and no more pain, hopefully I will have a baby soon.

Hi Vivian, so far no, 4 months after laparoscopy and no sign of fibroids yet.

Thanks Camellia for the information, unfortunately I still have 3 fibroid inside my body, the bigger one is 4.7cm as inform by another doctor during the Pap Smear.

My biggest one is intramural left anterior around 9cm, I tend to get burst of sharp pain twinges throughout the day on the left and if I lie on my back my pelvis  hurts I’m guessing from the weight of it.

Hi teaandbic, i have been informed by my GP i have a small fibroid  unsure of the size and am awaiting a Gynae appointment. The reason i had an ultra sound was because i am experiencing pain. I have started having painful periods and the pain just continues afterwards. Sometimes the pain is  like a sharp pain below my tummy button and then it can be like a wave of period cramps. It is frightening me TBH as looking on here many women have large fibroids and very little pain whereas mine is small with awful pain. Dont take this the wrong way but i am glad i have found someone else who is in pain sorry xxx
