Pain Clinic problems?

Hi Everyone,

Some of you will know of me and seen my posts in here. Currently waiting for a call from the hospital to see the surgeon and then im in! Cant Wait!!!

Anyway, seen the pain clinic as im now in Chronic Pain classification. The Opiate nurse is soooooo nice. She is fully understanding and agrees with everything ive done.

Saw the orthopedic specialist, he looked at my scan, looked at me and my meds and said without a shadow of a doubt, i need an operation and soon! He showed me and my fiancee the scan. When he was reviewing it (on an amazing quality screen BTW!!!) He also spotted something else new, a bulge in the centre of the disc protruding towards my spinal cord!!! And to think the first scan i was told there was nothing wrong, live with it! So glad I didnt!

The pain clinic doctor was the worst 'doctor' i have seen so far!

He cant explain anything i ask him, ie why do i get pins and needles. why do i get leg cramps during sex etc.

He patronised and belittled me and what i was suffering saying an operation isnt really necessary and said i need to exercise! I said i have had physio for 2 years now and seen 3 different people too. His reply was and? So what? And basically implied he knew better than everyone else!

To say i was furious was an understatement. But i had to bite my tounge as im scared of them telling my GP to refuse me anymore morphine for pain medication. He keeps trying to force me to take amiltriptalyne (SP?) too which i dont want to as now the operation is soon, i fully intend to fully recover and never have to take a tablet like this again, so i dont want another drug i need weening from!

Sorry to go on but i need to vent somewhere and see if anyone else has had treatment like me?

Good news about the op, what will you be having a microdisectomy or fusion?

BTW: give me the pain doctors name so I can troll him!

I think a lot of Doctors have NOT had a surgery and really have no idea how it feels . I had a lam and fusion . It hurt like hell till I got the oxy contin . Without that I don't know what I would have done . It made it possible to continue and get through it . It has been about about 4 months and i feel much better . I just hate it when some A-Hole tells you to suck it up or just take it . They have no idea . So just keep your eyes on the goal, getting your back repaired  .
