Pain/discomfort under right rib cage.

I have been experiencing this for the last few months, I have been searching the web looking for answers. I am a 45 year old female, in good health, I take no medications, thin, active, I eat healthy, so I am at a loss. I have this feeling like there is something under my right rib cage as if something is stuck underneath or enlarged. At first I thought I had strained a muscle b/c I had been working out in the yard the day before it started. It doesn't hurt, it just feels like there is something there that shouldn't be but when I touch the area there is no swelling or bulge. After about 3-4 weeks when it wasn't going away I went to see my doctor. They did blood work, urine labs and sent me for an ultrasound of gallbladder, all came back normal. I have no other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc. just this feeling like something is there. It seemed to go away on it's own and then came back and has come and gone since sometimes lasting a few days, sometimes a few weeks. When it is back wearing a bra is uncomfortable. Sometimes there is a warmth or burning sensation in the area. The only other symptoms I have had that I think are related are these: A few months before this started I experienced a fluttering sensation, almost like when I was pregnant and the baby moved, in the same location, a couple of times. Since this has started, on 3 or 4 different occasions, I have experienced a charlie horse like spasm in the same area, below the right rib, when bending over from a sitting position. Does anyone have any answers as to what this might be? Does it sound like IBS? Peptic Ulcer? Hiatal Hernia?

Just got back from the doc. Had xrays done. No mass on my organs. Doc says I may have a nerve being irratated on my spine and it could be sending pain up through my rib line and causing the muscles to spasm. Personally don't think that's what it is but I have steroid pills and muscle relaxers to see if that helps. In 5 days I go back if it doesn't help any and get an mri. I'll keep you guys updated.

I’ve had identical symptoms & have a hiatus hernia , my GO suspected this and it was confirmed by endoscopy, the nurse wanted to investigate further with a second look , but I could not endure a second one ! I wretched all the way through & it made me cry . I was due an MRI on my liver but they took me off the list because I refused the 2nd endoscopy 😡 Getting a GP appointment is such a rigmarole I haven’t bothered to try , I get relief by taking Cider vinegar but would really like to know what’s going on!

I've also been having horrible right sided pain and now felt some fluttering...... so over this! I've had CT Scan, X-ray,Mutliple blood work sessions and an ultrasound and all that was found were gallstones! So I had my gallbladder out last week and guess what still have pain on the right side! Just don't stop until your symtoms go away! Eventually someone has to help

Same problem here. Not pain just the feeling of something under rib at top of stomach. I've had a very stressful past year. Lost a couple family members. My discomfort I'd a daily thing now. Comes and goes thru out the day. In do scope showed inflammed stomach lining. Proton pump inhibitors not helping. I hope we all get it figured out. I'm 41 years old.

Hey kit4410,
My spouse has the same symptoms for years now.
When her doctor injected muscle relaxers in the active area all direct symptoms disappeared.
Done lot's of research and till now ended up with the following conclusion:
Biliary dyskinesia.
The disturbance in the coordination of peristaltic contraction of the biliary ducts.
Impossible to spot with ultrasound, CT or MRI.
Only shows with a HIDA-scan.
Symptoms may persist after cholecystectomy and have been linked to the use of proton pump inhibitors.
Osteopathic treatment, oral magnesium supplementation with 325 mg and the use of digestive enzymes caused improvement in one case [Heineman, Katherine (2014). "Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment in the Management of Biliary Dyskinesia". The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association].

I've been feeling pretty good past couple days. What I've done.
Got off the proton pump medicine. Started taking hcl tabs with big meals with apple cider vinegar to help disolve the hcl capsules. Stopped drinking my home coffee and just getting a small from dd in the morning.

Hi!
Old thread and so many queations with no answer. Got here googling my symptoms.
Wen't to gastrienterology, got ultrasound, bloodworks, colonoscopia and gastroscopia. Others revealed divertikulitis and a little infection in testines. Nothing related to the pressuring feeling in my right side. But when in gastroscopia the performing doctor said I have a large hernia which indeed could be causing the symptoms... Hernia has been mentioned by severals here.
Anyone had it fixed?
