Pain down leg and groin

Just wondered if anyone else having this. Am four months post op and doing well but the last couple of days am having ache down outside of leg on op side and some groin pain. My feelings are that I have been overdoing it - I where a pedometer and over the last couple of days I have been doing  over 20,000 steps a day - so today am resting more and will see if this helps.

I am pretty sure you overdid.  It happened to me, i was doing so well, went crazy with exercise, and woke up one morning with first pain in the groin and then extreme pain when putting my foot down.  Take it slow.

Can you invest in the mains charged leg massage sleeves. Works by compression and is bliss.  I used mine an hour am and pm for about 6 weeks. About 400 quid but worth every penny and am keeping it as one day god forbid I may need the other hip done but may choose a vet to do it!

    Hi

I had this after my thr.  The pain was worse than before I had the replacement.  Went back to my consultant.  I had an AMIS procedure.  He thought that it was due to an inflammed bursa.  I had 3 sessions of shock wave therapy on the bursa.  3 months later, I feel like it was never there.  I hope that this is of some help.

Not sure.  It is the bursa on the hip joint.  Mine was tender when poked which is what my consultant did.  He said that it was inflamed and that shock wave therapy was an effective cure.  Mine was a private health scheme through work so didn't have to pay.  The consultant who did the shock wave therapy told me on my final visit that if I had paid for it myself it would have cost £600 for initial consultation and the three shock wave sessions.  The pain in my thigh was worse than when my hip was at its most painful so had to get something done.  Exercise, excessive walking, carrying heaving things also made it worse.  Hope that this helps.

Thank to everyone for all your replies . I have taken it easy today and yesterday and decided to try and keep to about 10,000 steps. I went a bit mad with my steps earlier in the week because I am going away next week to watch tennis at wimbledon and you always do a lot of walking whilst away? Today is much much better - so I must be sensible.kathy x 🎾🎾🎾😎😎🙋🙋

As long as you are not having pain I think you are doing okay. If walking causes you pain then don't walk. Maybe you got lucky and simoly pushed the tendon just a little to hard and did not seriusly injur it. I wish you well, Best of luck to you and enjoy the Tennis Matches.

I have pain in my groin after carrying a heavy bag on the opposite side from hip replacement.  Sore when getting up out of a chair and when I weight bear initially then gets slightly better.  Have been trying to stretch out the tendon but by this discussion that is the wrong thing to do.  Would not like to risk walking too far.  Almost feel I need a walking stick again.  Am seeing physio tomorrow but will she be able to help? I am 66 and 20 weeks post op.
