Pain even though enzyme levels are normal

I have been hospitalized with acute pancreatitis 19 times in 3 years. Have had 2 ERCPs and several upper engioscopies and have had my duodenum stretched. I also have IBS, diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis. My problem is that I have pancreatic "contractions" what seems like 100's of times a day and they are very painful and my enzym levels are normal. How or what can can I do or take that could help my pain? My doctor gives me 70 Norcos 10-325 a month and I take them but to be honest, they seem very ineffective. Its unbearable sometimes and I don't know how to make my doctor understand. I've thought about asking him to send me to pain management because my pain is not managed. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I would definitely see if you could get into pain management, though to be honest, with this crackdown from the CDC and big brother, chronic pain patients are suffering everywhere. I get 6 hydrocodone 10 a day, plus a 50mcg Fentanyl patch every other day, and it still doesn't control my pain, so I'm sure you are suffering.

Sorry I don't have any better advice. I wish you the best of luck in getting your pain under control.

I am suffering. 😰 I am always scared about cancer too. My mom, grandma, great aunt and 3 cousins have died from pancreatic cancer. We have Lynches Syndrome a genetic condition. My sister is only 41 and had breast cancer and had to have a double mastectomy and we both have had hysterectomies so we don't have to worry about cancer there. It's frustrating and it interferes with every aspect of my life. Work, spending quay time with my kids and grand babies and my poor husband, bless his heart has had to take care of me so much.

I understand. I am currently waiting for a disability decision due to other chronic conditions of mine, but before I lost my insurance I was found to have a mass in my pancreas which was causing all my ducts to be dilated both in and out of my liver. Kidney bloodwork was bad too. Now I have to sit here and wait before I can follow up on this mass to see what it is. It's scary.
