Pain from stones

I've had stones in my right kidney several times over the last 6 yrs, they've always been too large to pass so I've had lithotripsy to break them up which has always been fine. I had a ct scan in October which shows 2 new stones both about 1cm in size and I'm awaiting an appointment in January regarding treatment this time. For all of my previous episodes there has always been pain, part when moving around a lot but this time I have found that I'm in a lot of pain whenever I lie on my right side. I automatically turn to that side in my sleep so I'm constantly waking up and then struggling to get back to sleep due to the pain. I'm also finding that I'm waking up in the night needing the loo which is new as it's never been an issue before. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you deal with it?

thanks roxi

You haven't stated whether you're male or female.

If you're male, and are middle-aged onwards, the extra trips to the loo might be prostate related so mention this to your doctor.

Are you passing a normal amount of urine, or is it lots of smaller amounts?

Frequent smaller levels of urine are common prostate signals and this means that your prostate is geting larger.

Don't panic becuase it happens to all of us and is not a sign of something sinister. But don't ignore it because there will come a time when you will be given some pills to ease the situation (I'm on them now) and you will get back to normal.

If nothing I've said rings true, post another message with more details - sex, age, etc.

Try voltarol suppositories they are anti-inflammatory NSAIDS but OMG did that work for my pain. Morphine didn't even touch it. This was after having laser treatment to fragment my stones. Hope this helps you
