Pain in abdomen

Hi...I have had a dull pain in my lower right abdomen just below my belly button for 3 months now....I had an ultrasound which showed a bleeding cyst in my ovary, after a second ultrasound a month later it showed the cyst had reduced in size and the blood was dispersing. However the pain remained admittedly not as bad could be described as a dull headache. My G P is now looking at my bowel...I had a blood test which was all fine and have provided a 3 day faecal sample of which I will have thee results by the end of the week. Has anybody only had a pain as the only symptom for bowel cancer? My bowel is very regular same time every day and sometimes a bit loose but not all the time with no obvious sign of blood. Thanks in advance.

Your doctor will at some point carry out a routine test for bowel cancer, that is unless it has already been done from the stool sample that you have already provided.

There is no harm in asking your doctor about this as the answer could alleviate some of the anxiety you are experiencing.

As to the pain, well Ovarian Cysts can be extremely painful, so is reassuring to hear that the pain is at last subsiding.

Thanks for your response. I'm assuming the stool samples provided will be looked at for traces of blood? Is there another routine test?

Yes, they can also check to see if there are any cancerous cells present, but you really do need to ask if they have done this or whether they intend to do it.
