Pain in abdomen where gallbladder was a week after removal.

I was feeling fine and just went to the doctor yesterday for a bandage change and a checkup post surgery. It has been a week since my keyhole surgery but today an intense new pain showed up where my gallbladder used to be. I've tried Tylenol but it's been nearly 12 hours of on and off intense pains that hurt when I lay down or take deep breaths. It hurts about the same as when I had the gallbladder attack that put me into the emergency room but I am scared to go back. What should I do? What could it be?

You should call your surgeon and let them know what is going on. If it hurts really really really bad a trip to the ER wouldn’t hurt. You just had surgery it’s normal to feel pain and feel a bit sore but if it’s just as bad as when you were having a gallbladder attack maybe you should get it checked out.

Don't panic!! Pain in this area pain is normal, your gallbladder was attached to your liver, this site hurt for me too, internal healing takes a time. By all means get checked out but e assured this is normal.

12 hours of severe pain I would absolutely have been at the ER probably 4 hours ago.

Some pain or discomfort after surgery is normal yes but pain that pain medication does relieve is not in my opinion.

Sorry to hear that you are going threw all of this. I too Had gallbladder surgery my friend. After about a month and a half I too Had bad pain and nausea. Had an ERCP done to remove a stone stuck in the common bile duct. After that I was told I had contracted pancreatitis during the operation. So it took some time to recover from that event. Overall now I'm doing great. Can eat and enjoy life again. Hang in there You Will Be Fine. God Bless and take care.

I’ve got to say I found the gallbladder removal a breeze compared to the ercp, just interested to hear how your  ercp went. I was really poorly after my ercp bile was just coming out of me crazy and I lost so much blood I passed out and nearly had to have a blood transfusion and ended up on iron tablets x

I got the odd stabbing type pain after that would make me jump a bit, but nothing like what your saying! It’s probably not anything to worry about but I would get it checked out anyway x
