Pain in left breast

Hi does anyone else have constant pain in the left breast. It's making me really anxious thinking something wrong with my heart. I've been to doctors couple of times and they just fob me off saying it's not my heart and I'm not having heart attack. How do they know it's nothing more like heart disease etc if they won't do any tests, or is this just another menopause symptoms ? xx

    Hi Jill,

I had a pain in my left breast for about a month. I went to the ER the month before because I had a constant pain in my right breast. It concerned me because no one else mentioned right breast pain. They did test and deemed me normal, HA!

I went to my Dr's Nurse Practitioner and she did a breast exam, found nothing and sent me for a 3D mammogram. It was normal. The pain in my right breast went away to replaced by pain in my left breast that lasted longer. I am 50 and haven't had a period for 1.5 years. I had my hormones tested and my estrogen level is 124. Two nurse practitioners told me that was normal. It seems high compared to my other low hormones, imo. Apparently estrogen can affect the breasts cause soreness, pain etc.

Also caffeine effects my breast pain. No caffeine, less pain for me.

The breast pain both bothered me and worried me. I mean we all wonder, "How can this not be something serious? What if it isn't hormone or something horrible?"

At least that is what goes through my mind. My breast pain hasn't bothered me for about a week now. But I have had since what feels like my heart beating hard though my pulse is normal. Now I have the beginnings of vertigo (BPPV) ...great. I had this severely a year and a half ago and I could not function.

Anyway, yes I had constant left breast pain and it did feel like it could be my heart. I don't know how old you are, but at 40+ you should get an annual mammogram.

    Take care,

    Kelly.

hi Jill yes I have had severe left sided pain/ heavy feeling/ constant dull ache on my left breast. I thought I had pulled a muscle at first; then when the pain moved it felt more like a broken rib. I had all the tests and a mammogram and all normal. I have diagnosed my symptoms to be menopausal as no other diagnosis could be found. The pains have since disappeared, I take turmeric capsules, Vit B 12 and Vit D and I believe these have helped.

Hi that's just how I feel. It does worry you though as you just think it's your heart and my mum died at 64 with her heart x

you cant help but worry especially when you think it is just you that is experiencing these symptoms; but it certainly put my mind at ease knowing that many other women are experiencing same/very similar pains. I understand your worry; both of my parents died early also.

I am also classed as post menopausal. I am 51 and haven't had a period for around four years. hope your pain eases soon x

Yes this does seem to be something you experience in menopause because I have been experiencing this a lot lately and am actually going through this now. Your mind does always tend to think something dreadful is wrong. What helps me sometimes is evening primrose oil. Plunging hormones can cause all sorts of things.

Hi it does help when you know others are getting the same symptoms as your mind goes into over drive thinking something is wrong. I've just had blood results back and I'm now post menopause. So on the homeward stretch thank god x

I had left breast pain on and off for about 5 years no findings in my mamo and several exams however I am left handed not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I am left handed also. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it either, but it is interesting.

Also has anyone had their hormones tested that has has breast pain? I am just curious if that can be a factor. Lower or higher estrogen for example. I have been told that estrogen can affect breast pain. I don't know how accurate that is. Just curious if anyone else had their hormones tested near the breast pain issue?

Of course hormones fluctuate even during post menopause. My estrogen was relatively high during my breast pain... anyone else?

I don't think it does because I am right-handed and I always get left side of the body pains including my breast.

    Jill,

I had left breast pain since early 2018, at first I had the same thoughts. then I was told to lay off coffee, and take my vitamins.

I found when I stayed away from Coffee my pain went away and my breast felt like empty sacks.

so I feel this is just another peri symptom 😊

i've had that too and thought i was having a heart attack or had breast cancer... did all the tests and everything came back normal. after a while it shifted to right and since then back and forth. sometimes they are so extremely sore i don't want anybody to hug me or come close in case they might touch them and its so painful. then suddenly pain goes and i have some pain free weeks until it comes back. what a journey!
