Pain in left hand side of chest and under left arm

Hi. I had hiatus hernia op in October last year, although I'm back at work and managing to eat most things I want, I'm having continues side affects from op. 1 is wind I can hear the wind churning around inside my stomach and moving around sometimes it feels like it's moving up really suddenly into my chest it's quite a strange and uncomfatble feeling or sometimes it feels like it drops to the bottom of my stomach.2 I have to go to the toilet within minutes of eating in a morning usualy 2/3 times and when I've got to go I've got to go!! Lol but the thing that most concerns me is the tight like aching feeling I get in the left hand side of my chest and under my left arm, sometimes I do get this in right side of chest but mainly in left. Don't think its heart probs because I had 3 ecg scans and a cardio Ecco scan before op and everything was fine! Does anybody else who's had the same op suffer any of the same sympotms as me???? If so please let me know!

I also had these symptoms after an op last year.I was tested for angina.Reading in these columns I realise its the vagus nerve that causes the pain when stomach is too full.Start with smaller portions and take imodium for loose stools They should give you these on prescription.

    hi luke

the wind could be due the valve bieng tightened at the top of your stomach due to the stomach wrap so you dont break wind by burping most of the gas remains in stomach and goes down the way through your bowel try eating less more often  it has been 7months since your op everthing should be settling down by now if you are still worried you should speak to your doctor .

Yes, i know exaxtly what you are talking about. Go see a gastroenterologist that specialises in Irritable bowel. Have you been trted for coeliac disease. i havbe andd anm not coeliac, but wheat doesn't agree with me because of the acidity of grain. ASlso dairy is totally banned. I have either rice, almond or oat,. Look for the least amount of sugat in these. I haven't tried soy but reading the labels there is still a large amount of sugar. Give all sugar away and i cannot eat fruit of any kind. i have been put on what is called a low fodmap diet. There is also one called no fodmap diet. Give them a go and see how you go. I have trapped wind in the small intestine and the pain is worse that childbirth. The is a book written by sue shephard. ASlso since it sppears that you have use of a computer. Google No fodmap andlow fodmap diets. Very time consuming recipes but worth giving it a go.

Well i never had the op, i take Omeprazole, and i dont get pain so much, but i do often get that feeling like wind / gas moving in my stomach and up into my chest, sometimes with sudden short stabs of pain. I get no tight aching feeling, but it could be nerves if you are worrying about the other symptons.

I barely take any notice of my symtoms now. I had a pre op before i had a septoplasty recently, and mentioned the symptoms to the Doctor and the Nurse. They done an ECG, BP test and all the rest and everything was normal, so that actually put my mind at rest.

Yes I suffer the same, has nothing to do with hiatus hernia. I have been diagnosed with Irritable bowel Syndrome. Caused by intolerance to some foods. It is a very hard thing to treat. You haveto go see a good gastroentwrologist that specialises in this problem. Drs just keep saying reflux andgiving you PPI's andthat only puts a band-aid on the problem. I have hadit for years and years and been told it was because ofmy small Hiatus hernia. But luckily i found a specialist that just gook one look at my stomach and diagnosed me. Hope this helps you. I am sure it will if you get the right Dr.
