Go and see your GP they will take bloods and you may need an endoscopy or colonoscopy, always fun to have a camera inserted into your rectum.
After all these tests they will be in a position to give you a diagnosis.

My own is like a shock, more of a stabbing pain and when it happens I lose control over my body for example I feel the need to stand up but when I have the cramps I am unable so ride it out for 10 mins until the cramp stops then get up and wait for it to start again as this can go on for a long time and whether this is in my head or not I don't know but I find pacing helps as when the cramps come I can lean over or back or to the side so I have more options. I am not sure if you ever had a television with an aerial as a child but for a better picture you would move the aerial. Well that is what it is like when I have the cramps and move my body around each time to the point where the pain is lessened and easier to do thus standing.
