Pain In Left Side under ribs, Anxiety / Kidny Stone?

Hello everyone, Just looking for some advice on how I have been feeling lately, since around 2012 I was prescribed Citalopram 20mg and Propranolol 80mg SR I stayed on the propranolol for 1 year and the citalopram I came off roughly 5 months ago, I had terrible withdrawal symptoms and am now fully clean, I would like to keep it that way. The reason I was put on medication was due to health anxiety I was feeling unwell physically experiencing symptoms like chest pain, IBS, tonsillitis on a couple of occasions,  And more recently I have had more blurred vision and trouble concentrating

I feel like I am always prone to colds/flus, Chest infections ( also I haven’t taken antibiotics in over 3 years as I would rather try and get over my chest infections naturally, I have only had 2 chest infections without antibiotics and got over them fine.

The only medication I am on now is (Lansoprazole 30mg) I have been on that now for 8 days in case the pain in my left side was a stomach ulcer ( But I was on Lansoprazole in 2009 for a year with similar pain in my left side the pain went away after a while and I stopped taking the tablets but in 2012 I got a bad gastro Bug from a hospital and was sick for weeks stuck in bed, the doctors ended up sending me for a endoscope camera (Results are below) All was fine. I feel like since that time I have never been the same.

Also Over the years I have had lots of blood work done, and more recently (Full Blood Count CBC) ESR, Kidney function,

Recent Blood tests: 2018 – FBC , ESR, Kidney & Liver Function, spleen (All Normal)

2017 - MRI – Of the brain all normal (Except thickening of the mucosal and middle ear)

2017 - Heart Ultrasound: Normal Heart

2017 - Heart 24hr monitor: Normal results, with good low resting heart rate

2018- Full abdominal ultrasound: all organs normal appearance and function (except a possible 5mm stone in my left kidney which might explain the pain I have been getting in my left side L

2012 - Gastro endoscopy – Camera down my throat to inspect stomach also biopsies taken Results all normal. (Reason for this was to check for stomach ulcers.

2017 – Chest X-ray of the lungs – All Normal

2018 – urine sample taken (Normal)

Age 25 My current height 6.2ft Weight 9st 06 I have always struggled to gain weight and over the years all my symptoms have been put down to anxiety & depressionand IBS, I am so confused a normal person would have anxiety and the get symptoms of pain but I don’t I get pain and then when I don’t get improvement I worryL.  I hate going to my GP’s surgery I feel like am bothering them or wasting their time lately the pain and discomfort in my left side has been on and off, just under my left side ribs and some times in my back its really strange I still have to wait to see if the doctor is going to send me for Abdominal x-ray to see if it is a 5mm kidney tone I have hopefully Monday the 9th I will have an answer. Also I am self-employed so I find it really hard to take time off work due to money reasons but lately I have had to to see if resting would help my pain.

Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks everyone.

They can use sound to dislodge stones, so hopefully you will not need an operation. I had stones in my Gallbladder, they lost them while doing micro surgery so I must be rattling if I was not so fat.

You need to be careful with all your examinations etc, you need to be able to accept your results and move on, although I do know how difficult that can be. Many invasive test can cause problems and the risk factor is slight the problems can be very real.

Like you I do find when I see my GP I try not to have any script needs, Thursday I was in for results and came out with a new Cox 2 and two Diabetes Courses, So it is back to school

    Hello Ryan

Have they ever checked out your Thyroid? It could be over active. Mine was so active that I was on the brink of major heart attack. I had terrible feelings and I think if I could put a finger on the feelings it could have been construed as anxiety

    Good luck
