Pain in muscles when exercising

Successfully off prednisolone since October 2015. continue to experience stiffness in shoulders and back some mornings and when rising after sitting for longer periods. Started walking daily including a steep climb taking around 40 minutes. Have been doing this for three weeks but continue to have calf and thigh muscle pain which hasn't lessened over the period. Could this possibly be due to PMR or just an indication of my low fitness level?bAny advice would be appreciated.

Just a thought.

Mind you - after 2 years of a regular walk of 30+ minutes, when faced with a steep climb I struggle but not with thigh and calf pain! Thigh pain doing something like that was my very first sign of PMR.

And I will hope for the continued progress toward zero symptoms, which I expect will take some months to achieve.
I'm hoping that you will be able to hold at zero. Being winter time this may be a challenge.
Being currently at 4mg/day and with a mostly-good energy level, I am already working on restoring all aspects of my physical fitness, from cycling to now jogging a mile and light weight-lifting. I have to keep testing my ability to do more, so when I get to zero I will be ready to be fully active.

I have also reached 0 prednisolone 4weeks ago, as Eileen suggests I suspect I have a little PMR lurking there as I sometimes feel stiff after sitting and can experience a pain in my shoulders if I move suddenly i.e. Go to catch something. But on the whole I feel so much better and going to the gym 3times a week and keeping active again. I have had my bloods checked yesterday so awaiting results and also have fat / muscle mass measurements at Gym 6monthly ( apparently I needed to swap 11kg of fat for 5kg of muscle !) so will see if I've managed to rebuild any muscle yet haha.
I manage Pain with occasional paracetamol or ibuprofen however will
review with Dr if I find I'm needing regular painkillers or blood work needs addressing. Good luck with your recovery,
