Hello to all my fellow hippies. I am almost 4 weeks post op. I have been very fortunate to recover very quickly. I returned to work only 2 weeks after my surgery. Unfortunately, my company sent me home until I could get a full release from my doctor. I asked the nurse for a full release and she graciously granted me with one. Everything has been great until today. I am suddenly having sharp pains in my groin area and around my scar area. I don't see my doctor for another couple of weeks. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this and if it's normal? I can't afford to take off work again and I'm fearful that I've done way too much.

I got pains in my groin area and along my incision for both thr. But neither were sharp or shooting - rather more like a badly overused muscle.
I would not wait to see your doctor. Get an appointment right away and if pain increases I would not hesitate to go to the hospital. Far better to be safe than sorry.a dislocation is no joke - just ask the other Linda in the forum.
I understand the worry about your job, but this is a serious health matter.
In the interim, be serious about resting, elevating your feet, icing where it hurts - BUT NOT THE INCISION- the tissue is too sensitive and freezes quickly.
Please let me know what your doctor says and that you are okay.
Take care. Big hugs.
Linda

You could have a touch of Bursitis which is what I have and the pain in around the groin and around the scar... it is inflammation and at times very painful.
My physio was unsure how to treat, however my surgeon told me to carry on my excercises and if in a month it has not gone then he will organise a steriod injection...
Please go to your GP to get this checked.

That might have been way too soon and too much. Not knowing what type of job you do but even if it's a desk job, that's early. The pain in the groin is the muscle as my PT said if you are in one position too long, it will occur. Also do your exercises religiously. Once you stretch it out - it's much better and it eventually goes away. When that happens I Lay on my back to the edge of the bed and drop the leg to the side of the bed; the closer to the edge the better. Just let it dwindle there up to 3 minutes. You will feel the stretch - a couple of times a day should do it. The numbness around the scar comes with the territory. Massage it - up and down not side to side. Please take care of yourself and allow your body to heal properly as it has gone through trauma. Rushing it can be costly in a long run and I don't mean financially. Be good to you

And I'm now experiencing the same problems as you I thing that we may have over done things my pain is also better if I put pressure on it. I'm going to rest it for a couple of days if no better I will go to the doctors. Let me know how you get on.

Just to let you know I'm 8 weeks post op. I've been doing great. I started a little bit of driving after 6 weeks, all was fine. In my wisdom I decided to drive to Newcastle on Saturday, a round trip of about 104 miles. Big mistake. On the way home I got the burning sensation at the back of my thigh. I feel like someone has kicked me up the backside when I first sit down and the muscle in my groin is aching like hell. Too much too soon. I'm having to rest up for a few days. It is starting to ease now though.
