Pain in my right side

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had a problem controlling my alcohol consumption for about 12 years (with a few years off when I smoked weed, stupidly). I am totally aware that I need to stop, having suffered with a wheat and dairy allergy which was apparently related to my liver. My diet has changed completely and I eat incredibly healthily, I work hard and I'm studying nutrition. I am slowly getting somewhere with controlling my drinking (usually a bottle of wine a night). I probably have one night off every 3 weeks. Very slow recovery, I use the pub I work in as an excuse! Stupid I know. Anyway, I have a pain in my right side just under my rib cage and I'm really frightened that it might be really bad liver damage. The doctors where I live (a small island) do not really seem to care when I go to see them, so I am really hoping that someone reads this post and enlightens me (hopefully reassures me). Thank you very much

Nah more likely what you've got is a Gallstone rattling around in there, it'll really really hurt after a while, say, maybe in a few years or sooner, it depends :D A low fat diet will help with the twinges and maybe you'll last longer before it really kicks off smile

Hi there I've just read your post. Are you still online here to chat? i wonder how you are getting on now a year or so later! i am suffering from a pain in my right rib and around the side. Started with back pain around kidneys a few months ago. doctor said right kidney was inflammed. visited 2 weeks later and she said still inflammed but had definitely reduced. Sent me for a scan this wednesday. Results back and asked to make appt with doctor. So did so for a weeks time as it was marked as non urgent but she would like me to do a LFT (liver function test). Do you know if this could mean its my liver? but surely the doctor wouldnt have felt inflammed kidneys if that was the case? Is a Liver function test done or can it be done to see about gall stones? I dont drink now, but up until a few months ago from the age of 19 (27 now) I would say I have binge drinked at times. I dont drink every day, some weeks it would be up to 3 times a week others just 1 time.

Let me know if you can give me some advice. Would be much appreciated.
