Jan i have had a similar experience. From an earlier thread it was suggested that it could be an IT Band problem. i looked up exercises on Youtube and since i have been doing the stretching the pain has stopped. i was having problems with the pain when i was walking...when my knee was bent at 30 degrees. The pain was the outer part of my knee and the lower part of the thigh. it was very tender when i touched it.

      HI Jean

Thanks for your reply, it's good to know I'm not the only one,

I had sciatica immediately after my op so couldnt do all the exercises straight away as i was in so much pain. was kept in hospital for 4 days! but they didnt put me on the CPM machine which might have helped,

I then had physio once a week to help with the sciatica and to get my knee bending

In March as my knee couldnt go firther than 90 degrees they did a manual manipulation (weekend before lockdown) which has helped and im now at approx 115 bend but the pain then started in my outside thigh to my knee. I thought the sciatica had returned but its a different feeling and lower down.

Reading up about the IT band it is exactly how i feel, so thank you for taking the time to reply and setting me n the right direction. New exercises start today. Thanks so much. Jan

Hi Jan...let me know if it works. So far since doing the stretching all has been well. My Sept surgery was a revision for my first TKR NOV 2018. i was in hospital for 6 days. My bend is about 100. ive been doing my own physio at my surgeons recommendation as he didnt want physio to push me. i had a lot of internal stitches that had to heal and they wanted to make sure my knee cap didnt slip back to the side. i havent been able to get back to the gym since Feb as I had my appendix out. i must admit i havent kept up my exercise the way i should. take care.....JEAN
